You SHOULD, but you probably aren't. Hence as I mentioned "I'm not seeing anything happen" . I'll have to go through the support forums some more time to figure out why isn't it working. If it WERE working, instead of a text box to write your location on your profile, there should be a bunch of countries to choose from.
I assume nothing came of your looking into the problem. Does that mean we'll never get the country flag feature?
On DCF, my country's flag showed up at random posts of mine without me ever having asked for that. You know, maybe someone wants to keep some stuff, like his age, nationality etc private.
What was your forum name on DCF? I don't remember a "Whatever" on that forum.
My name was ''don rosa is the best''. Sorry for taking so long to answer, but, last two weeks, i was banned here.

I remember your user name on DCF, but don't remember your country. But why would you have a problem with someone seeing your flag? Over the 8 or 9 years of DCF, my flag was mainly The Netherlands, Germany, USA and Denmark every year, but also was European Union, Sweden, Belgium, Norway, Canada, France, The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and even Luxembourg, some of the time. On DCF, the flag didn't indicate the poster's nationality. but, rather his or her country of present location. Sometimes I had three different flags in one day, while riding a train or coach bus from The Netherlands, through Germany, to Denmark.
This still feels like a good idea. It's nice to know where people are from. There's such a massive difference in perspective between the average American enthusiast versus the average German or Brazilian. Maybe try another plug-in, admin?

I think it'd be a very neat idea!

I did a quick and dirty hack on the DCF forum code, adding a table with IPs and country, and looking up the country corresponding to the IP for each message posted.
The problem is that IPs do change, or new IPs are attributed to countries, I'm not sure, so that the country/IP table becomes less and less reliable over time.
A possible solution consists in updating the data used to link an IP with its country frequently, and even keep track of the country attributed to old messages as they may not stay valid after a few years. So that is a bit more complex to setup and maintain than what I could do in one hour.
