I think Donald in the Stone Age is pretty funny, personally. It does a solid job juxtaposing Donald's intense interest in the stone age, his absurd lack of knowledge about it and his die-hard conviction he's an absolute expert on it.
Carlo Chendi was great at coming up with really bonkers scenarios that greatly exaggerated character flaws like these (he's probably best known for creating the Goofy/Hazel duo), maybe you're just not a fan of this style?
Part of the blame probably falls on the incredibly lame translation, but it to me like there was no action in the first half. We don't get to the "Stone Age" until page 15. There's no real suspense in any of the set-ups, we just see Donald making a fool of himself. But since there was clearly never any 'mastery' to begin with, there's no real progression for me. But if you enjoyed it, great.
I like plenty of Chendi stories. Okay, apparently I own only 13 of them. I like Treasure Island. I love Lost on a Desert Island. But this one didn't do it for me. Next issue there's another Chendi story that's looking a lot more likely.

Could be. I found a lot of the "Donald is super enthusiastic about something he's this absurdly clueless about" gags pretty funny, like the one where he tries arguing that a pickaxe is "related to the stone age" because a mine is a type of cave so miners are technically cavemen. But humor will always be subjective. This is primarily a comedy story, and I felt like the humor landed well.
