HC DD1975-38 was seen in the solicitation for WDC 735, but different covers were run instead. Still, I think this raises the chance that it will appear on an IDW comic.
Thanks, Fritz! I knew I'd seen that Gladstone cover somewhere recently!
I really like the Donald/Neighbor Jones cover with the leaves. Together with hex's recycling cover coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=XNC+DDM2007 that makes two Jones covers I've liked of those suggested here...which is a bit surprising, because I'm not at all fond of Jones as a character.
On the cover where HDL have replaced the candle with a firecracker, you'd think they'd want to be farther away, so they could watch (and not feel) the results of their prank! But that's the challenge of a one-page illustration, where everything has to be compressed.
The New Year's cover with the silhouette of Donald is quite striking and memorable! I like how Mickey's ears form the pupils of Donald's eyes.
We sort of figured it was subdivided and he lived on the lower floor (for the moment). While Donald usually has a full home of his own, occasional stories have shown him in an apartment before...

We don't need to think he's living in an apartment. The editors should just have put a workman's hat on him.

Why did Donald need to be added in at all? Surely Gladstone is well-known enough to carry a a cover by himself. It's not as if there haven't been WDC&S covers featuring non-main characters before. I remember a recent IDW variant with Oswald.
The coloring itself may be better from a technical point of view, but I prefer the green/red color scheme to the blue/grey one for Gladstone.
Red/green (Dutch colors) is my favorite color scheme for Gladstone. Probably because I grew up with him in those colors. But I think that a blue jacket looks nice on him too.

I agree with Baar Baar Jinx. It's not necessary to add Donald into this cover. It merely raises questions, and to me, it doesn't make the cover funnier. Only ugly, especially with that 'Disney comics' logo over his face.
The Disney logo won't be covering his face in print!
Meanwhile—I wish I lived in a country where Gladstone was well-known enough to carry a cover by himself. Realistically, I don't think he is. With the general American public, all but the most prominent Duck and Mouse characters are either unknown or remembered as nostalgic figures of the past (often tied to DuckTales). Witness how this writer of a psychology book, two years ago, wants to compare someone to Gladstone; but to make sure readers understand, he's got to explain who Gladstone "was" (note past tense!) from the ground up.
On this message board we're surrounded by fellow fans, so it's easy to forget that no matter how much I might love Eega Beeva, Fethry, or Gladstone, they're still characters whom the young and uninitiated don't tend to know in the USA, so we've got to use the better-known characters to help the draw a little...

As well as what Ramapith said, Oswald is more well known in the public eye than Gladstone.
