Maybe we could have a special subforum to identify stories. A "What story is this?" kind of thing, like the tipofmytongue subreddit.
Yes. This is a good idea. However, we need a better description than the one described above. There are many thousands of stories from which to choose. And the description above would probably fit more than a thousand of them.
I have communicated with an amazing forumer (not on this one and he now rarely hangs with the community, unfortunately) who was able to identity almost every story I remember reading as a child, with only a few plot lines.
Of course, we were both using specific French magazines as points of references, and because it was mostly limited to the 1980s and 1990s, it probably made the job easier...
Anyway, that "railroad" story seems like it would be typical of something happening in an ending. I also remember only small specific parts of stories I've read before.
A long time ago, I remember reading a Marco Rota story (unmistakable style) where Donald was talking with natives in a jungle. Along with HD, he is looking for a railroad. So, because he thinks of them as being "distant from civilisation", he tries to describe the railroad as "long metal snakes crawling on the grass"... the natives immediately ask "Railroad?" and Donald is shocked to find out they know modern technology.

Ugh, no sorry. That picture is the only thing I remember from the story. (I do remember it rather well but I'm not sure how to describe it.) Speaking of pictures, I bumped into someone that would like help to identify a scan. Any takers?
