I believe "La farfalla di Colombo" did get an English localization, "The Butterfly of Columbus".
Nope, no English localization or USA publication. I have read it in French and enjoyed it, though it's not one I re-read. I'd be happy to see it in an American comic at the appropriate time of year.
I understand that it's somewhat like the Barks story about floating the sunken yacht with ping-pong balls, in terms of being seen as a predictor of real-world innovations (here, the genetic engineering of the butterflies).
So, my absoloutely favourite (I will keep writing this british spelling) story is "Moby Dick" and the Metropolis parody in one of the six Topolinos I own. There're tons of other stories I love, but I can't get them together now.

Ah-ha! Quite the Artibani/Mottura fan, I see? Very understandable.
My favorite story? I have three: - Voodoo Hoodoo (Barks) - The Search for Cyril (Bob Gregory and Tony Strobl) - A Christmas for Shacktown (Barks)
It is extremly unexpected, but wonderful to see a Strobl story, let alone Search for Cyril, in someone's favourite stories list. I must admit that I had never ever seen someone complimenting Search — a lot of people know of it, because of its connections to Duck genealogy, but few seem to have a real liking for it. I myself think the story is good, but not the best, as Strobl's art is far from its peak.
A story of Casty with Mickey. I don't know its original title. It's (SPOILER ALERT) about a scientist that travelled to 1399 and gave the Aztecs technological advancements, thus changing history and creating a seemingly perfect world.
I think that I would add a few stories to my list of favorites:
Donald Duck: Adventure on Bomb Bird Island The Weighted Crate Mystery The Quest for Cooties
Mickey Mouse: A Mysterious Melody The Ghost of Man-eater Mountain Schoolgirls
Uncle Scrooge: The Money Ocean Somethin' Fishy Here Santa's Surprise Visit Land Beneath the Ground Mickey and Donald: The Case of the Vanishing Coats The Blight Before Christmas The Search for the Zodiac Stone (not a great story, but a newer favorite anyways).
My really favorite story is ""Das Gläserne Schwert", a fantastic adventure which isn't published in the USA yet. But I also love I TL 2243-1. My favourite Barks story is "Tralla La", my favourite Rosa story is "The Prizoner of White Agony Creek", and from Gottfredson I like "The Seven Ghosts" best. But there are lots of more...
Sorry for the bump. I haven't read as much stories as most of you people (there's plenty of Gottfredson mice I've never read, as an example), but I've read a lot. Here are my favorites from what I've read so far: Donald Duck (by Barks): In Ancient Persia Super Snooper The Golden Helmet Luck of the North No Such Varmint Billions to Sneeze At The Pixilated Parrot You Can't Guess! Gladstone Returns The Hypno-Gun Magic Fuss Trick or Treat Christmas on Bear Mountain The Milkman Sitting High
Donald Duck (not by Barks): Tycoonraker Shellfish Motives The Hoard at the Rainbow's End Bet You Didn't Do It Yourself Wrecks, Lies and Videotape Mountain Magic Fit to be Pied Fir-Tree Fracas
Uncle Scrooge (by Barks): Tralla La The Fantastic River Race The Phantom of Notre Duck Only a Poor Old Man The Secret of Atlantis The Prize of Pizarro The Billion Dollar Safari McDuck of Arabia
Uncle Scrooge (not by Barks): The Duckburg 100 Himalayan Hideout Golden Horizons/Blossom and Jetsam
Mickey Mouse: The Miracle Master The Blot's Double Mystery The Chiriwaka Necklace The Weregoof's Curse
Gyro: Cave of the Winds Krankenstein Gyro Minute Waltz in a Minor Key The Know-It-All Machine The Madball Pitcher
The Rest: The Great Rock of Power-Plus (Magica) The Goofy Success Story (Goofy) The New World (Brer Rabbit) Polar Opposition (Super Goof)
I recently read Mickey Mouse in the Sword of Ice. I then read every Argaar story i could get my hands on. Its a shame these are only available digitally in english. I would love a nice collection of all the stories. Massimo de Vita's art is amazing.
