While I was constructing a Magica De Spell family tree (see the recently updated version below), I frequently came across a character called "Streghella"in Italian, who was supposedly Magica's niece. But, as a few members on the old DCF forum already pointed out to me, this character is named "Witch Child" English, and is of no relation to Magica. However, I now noticed that Witch child and Streghella are separate characters according to the INDUCKS ( coa.inducks.org/character.php?c=Streghella and coa.inducks.org/character.php?c=Witch+Child ). Also, the description of this story: coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=I+TL+1071-B&search=nipote%20%20MDS mentions a niece of Magica named Streghella. Confusing, isn't it? Does anyone on the forum know more about this?

I am not sure, but at any rate, Inducks says the usual Italian name for the "Witch Child" is 'Maghetta', with 'Nocina' as an occasional name.
It may be totally unrelated, but some brazilian stories, like this one, have two identical exemplaries of the 'Witch Child', as if they were twins. Maybe in those cases, one of them is 'Maghetta' whilst the other is Streghella?
Witch Child and her brother, Warlock, were drawn inconsistently in the old S-coded stories, with at least two character models for each. In the original English scripts, Witch Child also had two spellings for her name—sometimes she was Witch Chile (maybe a nod to famous poet Margaret Walker, whose character Molly Means was "a hag and a witch, chile of the devil..." [1958]).
The characters' various names and looks led to some confusion in Italy and Brazil, where different local translations gave Witch Child different names. The earlier character model (with wide hat and pigtails) is usually Maghetta in Italy, but sometimes Streghella. The later character model (with pointy hat, bowl-cut hair and ponytail) is usually Nocina in Italy.
It looks like Inducks accidentally lists Streghella as an independent character. She shouldn't be.
As for the characters' relationship to Magica: no, Witch Child and Warlock aren't really related to Magica, but they do call Magica (and Madam Mim) "Aunt" in the English scripts anyway, as a term of endearment—and only their very first appearances clarify that they're not actual relatives. So later writers and translators understandably got things confused.
As in Italy, Brazil's local translators ran into the two very different visual designs for Witch Child, in the original S-coded stories, and interpreted them as two different characters, giving each design its own local name.
Later, when Brazilian talents were working on their own new Magica and Mim stories, they referenced Abril's localized versions of the earlier stories as a guide; saw these two evidently different little girl visitors; and saw no problem with using the two together in the same story, not realizing they had started out as two versions of the same character.

Good! The more different characters to populate this Universe, and give it diversity, the better.
InDucks also happens to list Donna Duck twice: one for her "original" cartoon incarnation (and her rare other appearances before Daisy was created) and another one for her Al Taliaferro comic version ("Donna Duck From 1951").
Why do they bother?? Donna Duck is Donna Duck!!
(if you ignore the stories which assume Donna and Daisy are the same)

Totally agree with this! They should be listed as one only character, for me.
