"I'm overall with Baar Baar Jinx in my headcanon: Ducks and Mice do not mix": then how do you fit the hundreds of story where they do meet, be they Italian or other ? It's not just a headcanon, it's the official story that Mouseton and Duckburg are in the same neighborhood.
Those stories are outside my personal headcanon. I read them and enjoy (some of) them, but they're not "real" to me.
As for Duckburg and Mouseton both being in Calisota and even being portrayed as "twin cities", that seem to be a more recent decision based mainly, from what I can see, on the English translation of Scarpa's stories. Mickey's home city was never explicitly named in the comics until the 90s, at least in the US (I know that some European stories had him living in Duckburg), and until the Gemstone era, I don't think the fact that Mouseton was in Calisota was ever set in stone. In fact, as we'd previously discussed on the missing-and-presumed-dead Disney Comics Forum (I wish it was at least available in archival form so I could link to the exact thread), there is a lot of indirect evidence from Gottfredson's work that Mickey lives in the Northeast, rather than on the West Coast, where Calisota is located. Someone on another forum suggested a name for the state Mouseton is in, that I really liked; Pennecticut. Personally, while I wouldn't go so far as to make Mickey a fictional character or an actor in Donald's world, as Rosa has done, I personally would simply prefer that the Duck and Mouse universes ignore each other's existence.
