I hate to even broach such an unpleasant prospect, but is there a way to restore the posts on *this* forum should it go down? Does Proboards allow files to be downloaded/backed up?

There's always Wayback Machine...
ProBoards does have a few things (e.g. for taking the data to a different domain), but not so much in the free version.
Fortunately, the only way the forum could "go down" would be if The KKM explicitly deleted it. I hope this never happens.
I used to have a Disney-related blog. It was created in 2009/2010 and has been active until 2014. I don't know how many people did actually read it, but I think it featured some interesting stuff such as interviews (Gatto, Fecchi, Ferioli, Jippes, Massaroli, our Robb and many others) and little articles/researches. I used to write both English and Italian, although my English was not very good (I was like 14/15 at that time) and you can certainly see that as you read the pages.
Unluckily, I'm not able to log in to that account anymore and that's why I haven't written anything new since then.
You can find almost every article (with the poor English I mentioned earlier) at this address -> www.dailywardrum.blogspot.com (I noticed most of the images are disappeared since they were hosted on an external site which probably has closed).
The Italian Papersera forum has appeared to be down for weeks. The message that's instead displayed is this: (translated to English) "Recent events have led us to temporarily suspend activities on the forum. While waiting to define the situation, the site and extra activities continue www.papersera.net/wp/in-edicola/"
Recent events? What happened? Does anyone know what's going on?
This other thread very vaguely touched on it, but from what I can tell, there was some mess with people taking over the facebook groups, then being kicked out? Not entirely sure.
According to a well known Italian Disney Comics author in the Papersera Facebook group:
* Some Disney Comics author took issues with the reviews which were shared in the Papersera Forum * He/She threatened to sue the Papersera association (which is a no-profit doing a lot of other things in addition to the forum) * The association decided to close the Forum
That's absolutely pathetic. Particularly since several Disney authors (Alessandro Sisti, Giuseppe Zironi and Carlo Panaro, to name but three) have been discussing with fans on the site and were perfectly fine with it.
The site is also full of invaluable research, stuff I've used as quotations for the German Duckipedia Disney wiki...
