So, somewhat like a month ago, I started to wonder; nearly every good-rated italian story has been published in France too. I asked myself, "why don't you subscribe the french monthly? You can read french, they have better paper quality, larger format and better stories.". I looked a little bit around the internet and found out, that in France, there're two different issues. First "Mickey Parade Geant". This one is published every second month, with about 300 Pages. The months in which MPG is not published, another issue is coming up, called "Super Picsou Geant", with about 200 pages. Should I subscribe both? Or just one of them? Please let me know, which one is better!
A little searching found that "Super Picsou Geant" outsells "Mickey Parade Geant". I also find that they both are offered as digital subscriptions via Zinio at US $4.22 an issue.
Both run 192 pages or more, which is huge compared to US comix. (one issue 308 pages?} (another 196 pages?} But, I'm not sure how many pages are comics.
If I could read French, I would subscribe to both print editions (sent to USA cheaper than IDW's annual Disney comics output at cover price).

1.) Common problem, the Mouse-universe is just less pupular than "Donaldville" with Scrooge, Donald etc. 2.) Yes, if you order the printed version of both at fnac (french mediastore: abonnement-magazine.fnac.com/magazine-super-picsou-geant.html), you get the digital version too, as in Italy.

Both SPG and MPG publish contemporary comics from the Italian, the Egmont and (only SPG) the Dutch production. Both of them publish stories on the Duck and Mouse Universe, do not pay attention to the names "Picsou" and "Mickey" in the title.
SPG is much better. It has 192 pages and it publishes:
the best of the Italian production -- the more interesting stories by the top writers, the longest adventures, the new parodies, the new PK stuff, and since an year and an half there is one story by Casty in each issue.
good 4-strips Danish and Dutch stories (even if more and more some recently contemporary Danish and Dutch stories by important authors, say Rota or Korhonen, are appearing on Picsou Magazine, a magazine once containing only material by Barks, Rosa and other old school barksian duck artists).
SPG has a very big format, that is why it is used to contain Northern-european 4-strip stories. Of course, in this big format the Italian stories appear more zoomed compared to the original appearance in Topolino!
MPG publishes:
less interesting Italian stories from the latest years. But still, consider that there is always a bit of selection, they do not publish anything coming from Topolino in France. Also, there can be exceptions. Mickey Mouse Mistery Magazine, that you would aspect to appear on SPG, was actually published last years on MPG!
3-strips Danish stories, the ones that the Egmont writers and artists develop "in the Italian style", like those drawn by Cavazzano, Andersen,...
MPG has the little Italian (digest) format, but more pages than SPG.
In the end, SPG is more on quality, MPG is more on quantity. My advise is to buy SPG, and MPG only if you want more. If you buy both of them you get an idea of what is going on all over the world in the Disney comics business. To me it is even too much (but I am known to be a snob ): I only buy SPG.
But let me add one thing: it is not true that the French publications are better than the Italian ones as concern the support. Yes, the French ones have thicker paper. But MPG and SPG (and also Les Trésors de Picsou) have porous paper and a mediocre quality of the print. it is better to read a Mickey Mouse's story in the thin and little - but well printed - Topolino than on SPG or MPG, believe me. On the other hand, Picsou Magazine and Le Journal de Mickey are done with glossy paper, and yes, in their case the printing quality is high.

I didn't meant italian issues, but german, they have something very porous, brown paper and the format is more little than "Topolino" or SPG/MPG. Picsou Magazine and Le Journal de Mickey seems to have less Quality in the stories. They look very short.

Le Journal de Mickey has very short Dutch and Danish stories, usually the ones that are 7 or 8 pages long...not more than 10 in any case! In a way, it is the more "childish-oriented" journal. Picsou Magazine, on the opposite, is the "old stuff" journal. Until last year it mainly contained Barks's stories (Barks often covered more than half of the journal), plus one story by Rosa, plus some other classic barksian artists such as Jippes, Rota, Van Horn, Milton, more rarely Scarpa, and so on. In the last year it has started publishing less stuff by Barks and more recent stories. You can have a look on inducks to get an idea.

You should subscribe to both SPG and MPG, which really go together. Possibly Picsou Magazine on top of that, if you want.
Huwey: thanks for correcting my "Picsou (Donald)" post. What I really meant was that Super Picsou magazine seemed to be Donald-centric, at least the covers are.
I followed your fnac link and found a combo offer of SPG and MPG, print+digital, for 45 euro (about 48 USD). Is mailing to USA extra?

I tried it, but they're not mailing to other countries. I found a Website, on which you can subscribe the Combo too, to other countries uni-presse.fr but they seem to be down. I hope they will be online tommorow, so I can subscribe it!

"Super Picsou Geant" is better if you like Donald and Scrooge. I'm guessing that "Mickey Parade Geant" is better for Mickey stories and for Italian stories. "Super Picsou Geant" has a lot of Dutch and Danish stories, too.

Picsou Magazine is the best French Disney comic magazine, - full of top-quality stories, like Donald Duck Sonderheft in Germany.

Yes, I own MPG 352. And there was also the last part of "Darkenblot 2.0", a story for which I would murder. And I think you have high claims, I noticed that on Papersera Forum, but it is justified, as there're many stories, that are not good, e. g. the most Panaros.

Well, there are also budget reason...MPG is a cool reading, but I do not want to spend too much. So I do noy buy issues where 70-80% of the stories are not of my interest (except if the 20/30% of interest is something that I was searching for...). I would not even have the time to read it, that's the point. And with MPG it is almost always the case. Whereas SPG and Picsou magazine are better. In particular now that SPG has this typical patter: "one Italian story - three or four Egmont (or more rarely Dutch) stories - one other Italian story".
Yes, I see, the most Castys and Artibanis are published in the SPG, nonetheless I have now subscribed both, because ... I have the time . Really, I'm spending too much time in front of my PC.
