Duck Avenger #5 will be the last issue, for now. There are other major forthcoming changes to the publication schedule and lineup, but classic Disney comics at IDW are not going away.
Wait, what?!? Where did you hear this? And what kinds of changes?

Thadwell is kind of a member of IDW team (Thad Komorowski) so if anybody knows he certainlly is one of them. Let's hope everything will work out fine and we shall await eagerly for any news.

Thanks for the info Thad. I realize you nor anyone else working on the Disney comics at IDW may be able to tell us more details about changes that are coming. Could you tell us though about when we might expect to hear more details though? Knowing if we are in for a wait of say two or three months compared to say a couple of weeks would be nice to know. And of course I realize that even telling us about when we may hear more details may be impossible at this time... Whatever the case, thanks *so* much for letting us know the they are not going away!

They sure aren't. I'll be back with more info once things are finalized.
Sadly, rising paper costs have been a problem for us since last fall, and necessitated us to put a hold on DUCK AVENGER at least for the time being—a severe disappointment to Jon Gray and myself, not to mention the rest of our team. We genuinely loved bringing PKNA to the English speaking world; we had wanted to do it for many years (and couldn't, until now, because the original PK continuity had to be established first); and I personally think Jon's PKNA translations/localizations rank with his very best Disney work.
Other titles are affected too, but I'll need to wait till certain decisions are made before I can tell you more. All of this takes place independently of DUCKTALES, by the way (sorry, Fritz—maybe, like Launchpad himself, the brand has a knack for showing up at a difficult time, but that doesn't make it the cause!).

Shame to hear about Duck Avenger, but I'm glad to hear that Classic Disney is sticking around. Duck Avenger was starting to get good, too! Must be an Evronian plot to make people forget Duck Avenger! *Kidding!*
Thanks for checking in to calm our anxieties, Thad and David. Too bad about Duck Avenger, but I'm fine with WDCS going quarterly, especially if it gets us more pages per issue! I hope Uncle $crooge still stays monthly, though. How can I face another month of Trumpworld without a new Uncle $crooge to look forward to?
I can continue to feel glad about the DuckTales comic, knowing it didn't have any collateral negative effect on the classic titles.
And thanks as always for all your work, IDW Disney guys! March was such a satisfying month, with the wrap-ups of three multiple-part stories. And this month I much enjoyed the treasure hunt with familiar villains in "The Hansa Hazard" and (at long last!) Reginella in English (another great translation by Jon).

Nah, I never thought it was the cause...just a really unnerving coincidence.
David, Thad, thanks for chiming in and mostly doing the "allaying our fears" bit. As another old timer who was around when Disney, Gladstone, Gemstone, and Boom all did their "implosions", I can't help but get paranoid about it happening again.
Shame about Duck Avenger--I've been enjoying it a great deal. In fact, right now it's the only "superhero" book I buy--it's kinda nice to have had some good old fashion superhero adventures without worrying about neverending line-wide crossovers, universe-shattering retcons, poorly thought-out plot twists purely for shock value, the brutal murder of beloved characters, "Nothing will ever be the same again!!!" etc.
I will say I'm a little surprised that the Disney line held out this long with more pages and better paper than even some of the other IDW books (I've been following their Ghostbusters line since it started in 2008), so I guess hearing paper prices are part of the calculation doesn't really surprise me.
You guys, Joe Torcivia, Jon Gray, and everyone else have been doing a spectacular job on this line...I guess that's why it hurt so bad to confront the prospect of not having as much of it as we've had these last two glorious years.

Uncle Scrooge will remain monthly for now, so don't worry! (Well, about the comic...)

Thanks for the kind words. I speak for all of us when I say that we strive to do comic books that we would like to buy and read ourselves. I don't think anything can surpass the first Gladstone run (for sheer importance anyway), but the IDW run has been coming in neck-and-neck what with the overseas imports better-scripted and presented than they ever were before.

Thank you so much for checking in. I have one question if you're able. What about stuff like the French Mickey albums? Will those be finished up?

Hello, people! So glad to have found this place, especially in light of Banker's PKNA Blog & Forums suddenly disappearing.... And just in time for Moldrock's Finale, too. Oh, the horror!
Now that I have the chance, I just want to first off take a moment & say this, on behalf of all the international fans, myself included; thank you, IDW, for (finally) picking up PKNA & bringing it to further international attention. This truly has been a long time coming, so it's great to finally see it actually happening. Also, it's great to hear that so many of the editorial staff are fans, I really had no idea ^^
So, for the sake of my sanity, I just have to confirm; Duck Avenger hasn't been cancelled outright due to low sales, or some such (can you talk about that, by the way?), but rather, it's just on a temporary hiatus pending the resolution of certain things, but with a good chance of returning, hopefully sooner, rather than later?
Also; "the original PK continuity had to be established first"
By this, you mean you had to translate the original Duck Avenger origins story from the 1960s, first? Interesting. I'd never imagined that, as I always felt PKNA thoroughly presented itself as standalone enough that anyone could access it, regardless of how much they did &/or did not know about Paperinik's backstory?
P.S. (If you can say) Have you given any thought to also bringing over the 12-issue Mickey Mouse Mystery Magazine series?

Also nice to see a fellow Doubleduck fan here, as well
Agreed, by-the-by, PKNA's individual issue storylines with overall recurring characters is a standing welcome contrast to all the multi-issue arcs that DC & Marvel have addicted themselves to as of recent years, & thankfully, my opinion in that regard hasn't changed over the years, no matter how many times I've re-read the series ^^ PKNA has only one multi-parter, a 3-part trilogy near the end, but it's extremely well done.
Without spoiling anything, I can tell you there's no need to worry about that becoming the case, either. Of course, needless to say, some issues are better than others, but the original series ends its run extremely solidly, & even the slightly controversial sequel series (PK2) has its seriously great moments. I won't say too much in regards to the 3rd series since it's ongoing, but the storylines so far have been primarily grade-a, so hopefully they'll be able to continue that trend.
I'd suggest shying away from the previously-translated "Superduck" series, by the way, as that's completely alt-verse (think Ultimate Marvel Universe, basically), & really only so good.

YMMV on that. Though it does indeed get on one's nerves by its alt-verse-ness at times (even though that was resolved in the last chapter), I kinda prefer the art on Superduck to the one on PKNA.

That is actually a good point in regards to the art, I'd forgotten about that, completely. Not to mention the spreads, they got to do some really great spreads for the series. Though I have to admit, the colour palette always came off as a little too.... digital? for me. Not that PKNA always had the best colours, either, of course, what with them being from the '90s & all.
In regards to the writing, my bad, I should have been more specific, yeah; Superduck does have some good entries, but if you're a chronological reader, there's just too much to slog through in order to get to them, in my opinion. Agreed, though; point of view.
{As for the finale (clicky);} Well, semi-resolved. I mean, they reset the Universe, but there's still that message "old" Superduck left the new Donald which goes against the established Villa Rosa origins.
