I have emailed the Disney XD support people and got an unhelpful and rather generic response. So I still don't know whether the new DuckTales will be available on any streaming service (maybe once the first season is over?). It's possible that the response was so generic because *they* don't know yet exactly what the arrangements for streaming DuckTales will be. For now, to watch it as the episodes are being released, you have to subscribe to a cable TV service that includes Disney XD. Since I have no cable service at all and am not about to get it just for DuckTales, this is a nonstarter. (I have a television, but it functions purely as a monitor for my DVD player.)
All you Americans reading this....please let me know if you hear of other ways to watch DuckTales. I may try to contact Hulu and Netflix and ask them if they know whether they're getting it. But it looks like I may have to wait until the end of the first season, and then either be able to stream it or to buy it on DVD. Or, possibly, buy every blooming episode on iTunes.
Given how much time and energy The Mouse expends on preventing illegal use of its content, it's frustrating when one is fully prepared to pay for something Disney makes and there's no way to do it. Hey, Disney, I just want to throw money at you!
Hulu is part of Hulu LLC, a joint venture with The Walt Disney Company (through Disney–ABC Television Group) (30%), 21st Century Fox (through Fox Entertainment Group) (30%), Comcast (through NBCUniversal) (30%), and as of August 10, 2016, Time Warner (through Turner Broadcasting System) (10%, minority stake). Says Wikipedia. So, maybe you can watch it there, once the first season is over. Maybe it will be free to watch on cable tv on Disney Channel, which can be watched in a livestream. You can also buy all 9 seasons of the former DuckTales as stream on Amazon or iTunes (and so the new ones, once they're out, I guess). But it could take years until the DVD is out.
As with a lot of modern cartoon shows, not seeing any option for catching up as they come along that's not piracy, I'm afraid. Buy the show after to support it, I suppose.
yeah, it will be on 10 000 watch online sites half hour after it airs so...you can always buy the dvd afterwards, in europe we have all those shows on regular tv channels, modern cartoons like tom and jerry show or new looney tunes, or whatever but I dont know how it works in america
Episodes will likely be able to purchase individually or in a season pass on itunes shortly after they air. I don't know of any other legal option besides that, I'm afraid.
I really don't understand why these streaming apps require a cable subscription. That defeats the purpose of them if you ask me.

Yes. That should be an option available to people who don't have access to a cable provider who carries them, or whose cable operator includes the carrying channel in a very expensive package containing mostly channels not wanted by the potential subscriber. I find this true of sports packages offered by my Dutch, German and US cable/dish providers, who make me pay for all sports or several different sports packages, when I am only interested in ice hockey.
Not Disney related but Boomerang (A sister channel to Cartoon Network that normally airs older cartoons) recently launched a streaming app that uses a separate paid subscription rather than linking a cable package to access their content. It would be really nice if other networks did something like that.
I mean if I had cable, I would just dvr the shows I want to watch and watch them there. I wouldn't need an app. The app should be for people who don't have that option.

Okay, for those of us without cable who've been avoiding the DuckTales thread(s) because of spoilers, the hour-long pilot is here (on the official DisneyXD channel, so nice and legal).
The episode is also downloadable for free on itunes and is supposedly viewable on the Disney XD streaming app without requiring a subscription. Disney looks like they're going out of their way to make sure this premiere episode is seen by all.
Happily, my question is finally answered, and I will be able to watch the new DuckTales without waiting for a DVD set! Yes, the premiere is free both on YouTube and on iTunes. AND you can subscribe to the series on iTunes, $30 for season 1, well worth it to me.
I wrote to customer support for Disney XD earlier to ask whether there would be non-cable ways to get the series, and they didn't tell me about the iTunes alternative. Maybe it hadn't actually been decided yet? Or the customer support people were ill-informed.

Okay. Be warned that you may not get the entire season for that price. I've noticed that when it comes to itunes releases, Disney seems to have a sneaky habit of breaking shows up into volumes of 10 or 13 episodes rather than full seasons. This is the case with both Disney Afternoon shows (Which I can understand as number of episodes per season on those shows were wildly inconsistent) as well as newer shows like Gravity Falls and Star Vs the Forces of Evil. The first season of DuckTales is going to be 26 episodes I believe and I have a suspicion that "DuckTales Volume 1" on itunes will only have the first half of those episodes. I hope everyone can take that into consideration before buying the season pass. I'm sure the season pass will still be cheaper than buying each episode individually but don't expect to be getting 25 more episodes for that price.
Part of the problem I have with this is that as far as I can tell, there is no indication on itunes for how many episodes are included with a season pass before you buy it which makes this sort of thing feel like Disney is trying to exploit that. "Hey! $30 for the first season of DuckTales! Oh wait! It's only half of it and now you have to buy volume 2 for the rest. Too bad you already paid back when the first episode came out and there's nothing you can do about it!"

Thanks for the heads-up; I will consider myself forewarned.

For some reason it's blocked for France…
Don't worry, it's also blocked here in Denmark. I assume this is UK only.
