I believe it has recently been mentioned in another thread already, but, in European Disney comics, it has been a running gag that Goofy has a very large amount of relatives/ancestors. Now, on the INDUCKS, I came across this 1950s Mickey Mouse newspaper strip: coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=ZM+53-06-07 What I found quite interesting is that Goofy actually mentions having "grown up in a large family". While saying this, he shows a picture from his family album, apparently showing him with his family (parents/siblings?). The INDUCKS scan is quite unclear, so I was wondering if anyone on the forum who has access to the comic could scan the image? Or does INDUCKS also have high resolution scans of those pages, maybe?

I do not, but since we're on the matter of Goofy's family, did you know Gilles Maurice was doing a big Goofy family tree ? He sent me a scan of an unfinished version of it a while ago, but I haven't been able to reach him since. Do you think I could post it here ?
Sounds very interesting! I would like to see the image (if the creator is O.K. with it, of course). I remember Gilles Maurice doing a Goofy family tree years ago (I believe it's still on his website), but the project wasn't nearly as extensive as that Donald Duck family tree he did.

Oh, WAK. The link to the picture is no longer available… Ah well. I still have something to show you:
It's the French version of a Goofy family tree from The Super Sportsman, a German Goofy story that for some reason is a remake of a better-drawn story that was printed only once whereas the remake was translated in Italy and France. From bottom to top, the characters are:
"Carolus Dingus, Discobole": Carolus Goofus (probably a play on “Carolus Magnus”), a discobolus (discus-thrower).
"Démetrios Dingourious, Sprinter": Demetrios Goofurious, sprinter (the picture indicates that he is most probably a Goofy version of the Marathon Soldier, Phidippides.
"Dinguebert-la-Fusée, Javelotiste": Rocket-Goofabert, javelin-thrower (apparently a viking, but I don't see how a name in -bert is supposed to sound viking).
"Van Dingham, Lanceur de Poids": Van Goofham, Shot-putter
Interesting -- it reminds me of a Goofy family tree shown in the Goofy comic The Adventure Story (Tony Strobl).
I also found this tree on the web (created by a certain Adrien Miqueu): I've asked it on the old forum before, but does anybody happen to know where this character called "Grandpa McDing'h" (shown on the tree as Goofy's maternal grandfather) comes from? The artwork looks like Floyd Gottfredson/Manuel Gonzales to me, but I can't figure out which story the image is from.
I just got my hands on Topolino #3123. In the story "Pippo e l'Asso dei Cieli"(trad."Goofy and the Sky Ace") we met Goofy's grandfather, Walter DePippis, who is still alive AND was shown having a hand in raising lil' Goof.
Also, an Italian list of Goofy's relatives, included his father and mother(his father's Italian surname is the same as Walter's, which I guess makes him Goofy's paternal grandfather)
It's odd Miqueu's family tree doesn't include Goofy's wife (from the "George Geef" shorts that also included a prototype of Max Goof) or Glory-Bee, who was Goofy's girlfriend for a long time in the comics.
Some theorize that she is the most likely to be Goofy's wife in the "Goof Troop" or the "George Geef" continuities. (even though the wife's face is never shown, she could be a "dognose" as well as a human... even though Pete's wife is shown as a human, different from Peg)

Well, we don't know much about Goofy's wife from Goof Troop but I don't think she is the same character as Mrs. Geef/Mrs. Goofy (or whatever her name was) from George Geef/Goofy shorts or Glory-Bee from Disney Comics. I also think that Mrs. Geef could be a dognose human (or a normal human) rather than a Goofy-like anthropomorphic dog. Glory-Bee is totally different compared to Goofy but I think she is a different species of dog. Have you heard about some other theories about Goofy's wife from Goof Troop? Some fans thought that she either died (like in a car accident) or got divorced.

Very interesting! What is this Walter character like? Does he resemble Goofy in appearance and/or behaviour? Does he have an important role in the story?
BTW: I suppose he's not the same character as Goofy's grandpa on the family tree I posted here earlier, is he?

bonus younger Walter and Kid Goofy:
He doesn't resemble Goofy in behaviour as he's super serious(if fixed with aeroplanes) and grumpy. He's also the reason of the story: him and Goofy had a fall out when Goofy was a kid and their relationship never recovered. Walter is chronically disappointed in Goofy and Goofy suffers for it.

Nope, he isn't. The grandfather on the family tree doesn't have a mustache or thick eyebrows -- although he DOES have goggles. It's a little puzzling.
At any rate, who is the story by? I love its version of Young Goofy, and the grandfather character is interesting. That being said, and even though I have nothing against that weird tradition of the Italians' to color characters' shoes yellow, I think coloring Young Goofy's (anarchic, by the way) snickers in that colour is going a bit too far.
