Is anyone familiar with the work of Scott Tipton? A Google search is not particularly enlightening.
Clicking on his name in the article brings up more articles for other comics he has worked on. This seems to include a Sherlock Holmes comic, a Star Trek/Planet of the Apes crossover, and Doctor Who.
While the internet cartoon is perhaps not my favorite version of Mickey, I personally am going to give this mini-series a chance. Unlike other comics characters, one of Mickey's strengths is that multiple versions of Mickey can coexist without cancelling each other out.
From the little information we got so far, my understanding is that these are not the same stories that were published in the two comiXology issues and the 2013 Comic Zone issue. Most (if not all) stories in the current Mickey Mouse Shorts comic series are adapted (if you can call it that) by John Green. Inducks doesn’t say anthing about that though.
The Scott Tipton adaptation will hopefully be real comic art based on the animation series and not selected screencaps put together. If so I’m curious to see how it turns out and will wait until I’ve read it to pass on judgment.
Sadly I was completely wrong about this..
The art in IDW's "Mickey Mouse Shorts: Season One" on sale this week is from the exact same source as the comiXology/Comc Zone stories. Adapted (using screencaps) from the animation by Disney Publishing Worldwide/John Green I believe. The difference in the IDW and Scott Tipton adaptation is just the dialogue. New dialogue is written and new speech ballons are insteted in the IDW version.
I actually was a bit excited about reading "Mickey Mouse Shorts: Season One" this week. Now I have no interest in it whatsoever.
