Volume 8 (Scarpa) will feature: - Paperinik torna a colpire (The third Paperinik story) - Zio Paperone e il casco d'oro (Based on an idea by Barks - Topolino e il rampollo di Gancio (Mickey tells a story about Ellsworth, a friend of his)
Volume 9 (De Vita) will consist of the two first chapters in the Ice Sword saga: - Topolino e la spada di ghiaccio - Topolino e il torneo dell’Argaar Hopefully this means there will be a future box set with all four parts of the Ice Sword Saga.
I'm excited about the upcoming Carpi volume, but it strikes me as strange that Fantagraphics didn't choose to introduce him by printing his two greatest stories.
I mean, “Il mistero dei candelabri” and ”Guerra e pace”, - Is not only drawn by Carpi, but also scripted by him (The stories in the upcoming volume are only drawn by him). - Would fit perfectly into one Disney Masters volume (108+65 pages) - Has never before been published in the US

The Amazon title for volume 9 is now changed to "Disney Masters Vol. 9: Mickey Mouse: The Ice Sword Saga (1) (Vol. 9) (Disney Masters)". I guess the extra "(1)" suggest there will be another volume with The Ice Sword Saga later.
Edit: volume 8 actually has "(1)" in the title too: "Disney Masters Vol. 8: Donald Duck: Duck Avenger Strikes Again (1) (Vol. 8) (Disney Masters)"

Not only that, but we have cover images now as well. I really have been enjoying this new series of books, especially since the change of the guard on IDW’s monthly comics.
The Ellsworth story in Vol. 8 is actually this one, the one that introduced Ellroy.
And it's a great one! It was just printed in German for the first time. It didn't quite solve the problem what with Ellsworth and Ellroy being called by the same name in German though...

If we (meaning, we Americans) are lucky, Carpi's candelabri will appear in Dark Horse's new "Disney Classics" series, since they're printing literature parodies.
Here's a criticism I have that has nothing to do with the authors being chosen or the translation quality.
I picked up Mickey Mouse: The Phantom Blot's Double Mystery the other day and I noticed that in between two Mickey stories, you also included a Scrooge story. It just seems weird to me that you guys would go out of your way to produce separate books for Mickey and the Ducks but then include each other's stories in the other books anyway. It's not a big deal to me personally but I'm sure there are people out there that are only buying the duck books while skipping the Mickey ones (and vice versa) that are going to miss out on The Last Balaboo because they didn't buy this one Mickey book.
Not sure what other people make of this or if anyone else even cares but it's still odd to me. I think these books have all been fantastic in every other aspect.
If I had to hazard a guess, they probably decided after the initial four books to use Romano Scarpa's second book to showcase his work regardless of starring character.

I don't think the intention was to make Mice and Ducks totally separate - just that the odd volumes' focus would be mice and the evens' would be ducks. Just as Vol. 5 was mostly Mickey with a Scrooge middle, Vol. 6 will be mostly ducks with the historic "Mickey the Kid and Six-Shot Goofy" in the middle. Same with Vol. 8: Scarpa duck, Scarpa Mickey (well Ellsworth, really), Scarpa duck. The intention is also to get as many of these great international comics here while we can, so keeping a book's slots Ducks-Only or Mice-Only would prevent that.
I'm personally growing more concerned about available shelf space. It's kind of insane 2018 will see more hardback Disney comic collections than regular comic books.
Do you mean shelf space for the buyers, or retail shelf space? Our Barnes and Noble store has only carried the Daan Jippes volume of Disney Masters and seems to get the Don Rosa and Gottfredson books (when they were still going) sporadically. The Carl Barks books are the ones they seem to have in stock more consistently, except for the Uncle Scrooge volumes.

Personal shelf space. I mean, speaking for myself, I've got to find space for the Gottfredsons, the Silly Symphonies, the Barks, the Disney Masters (and for others the Donald dailies and the Rosas)... sheesh! Too much of a good thing, how dare they.
