To your first point, I agree wholeheartedly ... it's unrealistic to assume that both Scrooge and Goldie pined away for each other well into their eighties, not dating or marrying anyone else along the way ... the physical proof would be Dickie Duck, if you believe she's Goldie's granddaughter but not Scrooge's. (Did Scrooge have a love named Clementine? And then named his cat Clementine? Neat!)
To your second point ... again, I think it's an example of Rosa adopting a scorched earth policy to ward off further criticism of his omission of Miss Wise ... "Barks was having a bad day" and "They belong to different species" are not arguments he would otherwise make.
