To those who don't know - he's the oldest still active Disney creator, and he's also the one with the longest career, as he started as an inker for Carpi in... wait for it... 1954!!
I've always liked his peculiar way of drawing the ducks, and the "gothic" influence. Some panels stolen from Inducks:
Sadly, Giulio Chierchini passed away at the age of 91 yesterday: www.afnews.info/wordpress/2019/08/18/giulio-chierchini-passed-away/ Even though his stories aren't liked by everybody (especially the two-row airbrush stories with Bubble Billy I think was his name, innit?), he is an absolute legend that deserves to be remembered! Rest in Peace.
I've always liked Little Gum (that's his original Italian name) and think those stories have a charm of their own, but I can see why it's not everyone's cup of tea.
It's interesting to note that other artists at the time also adopted the format (two-tiered pages with painted backgrounds) for a while, such as Giuseppe Dalla Santa, Marco Ghiglione or Sergio Asteriti.
