What do you think of the manga stories that featured Ducks and Mice characters? I'm talking about the ones that were made by Egmont people. Those stories were first published in a Japanese magazine called ミッキーマウスコミック (Mickey Mouse Comic) by Egmont Japan. Most of those stories were drawn by Egmont artists like Flemming Andersen but there are also some stories that were drawn by Japanese artists like this remake of Super Snooper. Yes, many of those stories were remakes of some Barks stories and some D-coded stories. They haven't made so many stories that were original stories and not remake stories. I think it was great to see some stories getting remade but I'm not sure if all those Japanese remakes were as good as the original ones.
This is complete news to me, thanks for the thread! I'm really interested in this now. Wonder if there's scans somewhere? It's interesting that from that first page alone you can tell some traditions of children's manga in Japan are there- the pose as that nephew runs, in a void, towards the other characters, is very much something you'd see in a Doraemon, for an example.
Other than that, don't know if there's many manga with Disney characters. Well, there's KH. I suppose I could read that sometimes. I also like Tezuka's depictions of Donald and Mickey, in the few cameos the characters had in his stories- his Mickey's very Gottfredsonian, and his Donald very Barksian, makes for some fun mixes of art styles.
Well, you can see some scans of some stories that were uploaded on Inducks. Please click on the link to check the scans of Super Snooper remake. Some of those stories were published in some other countries not just Japan. I don't know if there are other manga with Disney characters either but I know the manga adaptations of Kingdom Hearts, Kilala Princess, Magical Dance, two Different Disney Fairies manga, manga adaptation of Stitch anime, W.I.T.C.H manga, Manga adaptations of some Disney movies and some manga that featured Marie from Aristocats in it. It's interesting to hear about the cameos of Mickey and Donald in Tezuka's stories. Do you have a scan of their cameo appearances? I'm asking that because I'm very interested to see the pages that featured their cameos appearances.
Edit: It seems you already check the link on the Super Snooper remake. Well, I don't know which site has scans of those manga stories. Sorry if I disappointed you .
If someone wants to check out what this is, I'd recommend trying to get the German series (even if you can't read German). The series doesn't collect all stories but a good deal of them. Some stories have a bit weird looking art, but others looks like a regular Egmont story with an attempt to "spice up" the layout a bit. So they are not really done in a manga style in my opinon, like the Kingdom Hearts series.

Donald Duck appearing, IIRC, in Princess Knight, and in a personal card to Barks; note the large, Gottfredson-esque hands despite the very Barks face:
Mickey Mouse in Metropolis (or rather, suspiciously Mickey Mouse-esque giant mice!). Might as well post this whole sequence.
(ADMIN NOTE: edited quote to avoid having the set of images all over again for no need)
Wow, thanks for showing me the scans of their cameo appeararances in Tezuka's manga, TheKKM. I have seen the personal card to Carl Barks before but not the scans of Mickey and Donald's cameos. I'm so glad that Tezuka was a big Disney fan and that was a big fan of Disney comics like the ones by Barks and Gottfredson. I know that he have made his manga adaptation of Bambi (which was one of his favorite Disney movies). After seeing these scans that you posted, I felt sorry for Tezuka who passed away on 1989. Sniff! . It's too bad that he didn't had time to watch other Disney movies that were made after his death like The Lion King. Some fans thought that TLK was a rip-off of Kimba because of the characters similarities but of course the plots of TLK and Kimba are different.
It's more than the character similarities, mind. The concept art for Lion King depicts Simba as a white lion, and actors thought they were being hired for a Kimba movie. It's pretty clear that regardless how the movie ended up being, the beginning process was specifically for a Disney version of Kimba :V
Tokyopop Press publish the line Disney Manga. For the most part it's the expected Disney Princess stories and movie adaptations, but in May they will publish Donald Duck Visits Japan! co-starring the Caballeros. I'm slightly interested, even though it seems to be an educational story about Japan.

This one was published in the French Picsou Magazine last year, along with two other remakes. I thought they were nice enough, and their existence kinda makes sense to try and pique the interest of a Japanese readership, but for us Western readers, I don't think they really add anything.

Looked this one up, it's a short 9 chapter webcomic series that was serialized on Kodansha's online manga site Comic Days back in April through July last year.
You can read the first two chapters plus a couple short bonus stories for free on their website (in Japanese) if you want a preview: comic-days.com/episode/3269632237276958652
The KKM Is the Mickey story (and the Donald one) listed somewhere in Inducks? If so, could you provide a link? and if not, could you give some information (or a pointer) so that we can add it to the database? I'm not sure that Manga-like stories are well listed in Inducks, currently :-)
