I have recently discovered this book: It was published in 1969 in the U.S. to teach about animals. And it features none other than Fethry and Tabby! However, in some bizarre miscommunication or something like that, while the art clearly depicts Fethry:
The text refers to him as Donald throughout. Tabby, on the other hand, is shown in the art and correctly identified in the text, so obviously whoever wrote it had to have some idea of who Fethry was, so... I don't know. And, the cover of the book clearly depicts Donald. Honestly, I have no idea how this happened. But, it's at least somewhat interesting either way.

Yes, it is a translation of an Italian book from late sixties: Enciclopedia Disney volume 3. Unfortunately it seems not to be on the inducks; picture below.
Every volume featured a Disney character presenting the subject of the volume of the encyclopedia. This volume on animals featured Fethry Duck as 'host'. The drawn was by his majesty Giovan Battista Carpi, by the way.
It is still famous among Italian fans exactly because of this strange American translation where Fethry is called Donald, supposedly done since American kids did not know who Fethry was.

The images are from eBay. Here below the rest of the volumes. From what I see on eBay the encyclopedia was republished several times over the years with more modern covers. These are the first editions. There is Mickey hosting the volume on 'the great (historic?) adventures', HDL hosting the volumes 'kids of the word', Pete on cars, Minnie on 'myths and legends', Jose Carioca on 'the five continents' and so on.
Unfortunately it seems not to be on the inducks; picture below.
I don't think they have any comics inside, or do they? Non-comic books are usually not added as it's a comic database, even if illustrated by artists that also do comics. There are some exceptions though, like Barks' Lemonade King in the Top Top Tales series and Donald Duck and the Christmas Carol in A Little Golden Book.
I seem to recall this is where the whole Red Bat thing sources, right? There's an illustration of Fethry in a disguise and the BR authors liked it and made it into a comic thing
That's quite interesting, I didn't know that this was a translation. I hadn't noticed before that Fethry's trademark hair was removed, but looking now, I see that it is, in every illustration.
The KKM: Here's the illustration I believe you are referring to (from the American version, of course):
And, I hadn't noticed this before either, but there's a drawing of Moby Duck and Porpy in the whale section:
And what appears to be Tanglefoot in the horse section:
