Haunted Mansion was pretty good, though the unexplained absence of the Ghost Host was somewhat puzzling. Liked the art, liked the plot. Could have done with a bit more color in the Hatbox Ghost's characterization. Seekers of the Weirdlooked neat, but was a total betrayal of the original concept when you think about it. It's not a Museum anymore (it's a storeroom for powerful items, which people are not supposed to visit), and it isn't "of the Weird", no, it's just "of the Wyrd", as in "fate". Blah. How can you call yourself a "Museum of the Weird" past that point?
Figment was, again, neat, especially for focusing on Dreamfinder. I wasn't too keen on the art, and I think the art of Figment Returns fit better with the tone, but Figment has the superior plotting by all accounts. In both cases though, I'd have preferred Dreamfinder and Figment to be seen actually coming to Disneyland…
On it, I wrote: I read "Big Thunder Mountain Railroad," and enjoyed it in some ways--I liked the main character, Abigail Bullion (and her horse!), a lot. But (and this is a big "but") the treatment of the Native American woman <spoiler alert> falls squarely into the Sacrificial Negro trope, where the person of color dies to help give the white folks their happy ending. She gets a kind of mystical afterlife with the mountain spirit, but that didn't make me feel any better about it.
