Something I read a while ago in a comment on an old blog post ( johnkstuff.blogspot.com/2007/08/donalds-cousin-gus.html ): supposedly, in the early stages of production of Gus Goose's animated debut, "Donald's Cousin Gus", Gus Goose was not a silent character, and was voiced by none other than Mel Blanc, who apparently said in interviews that he gave Gus the voice of a "big dumb Swedish goose", but ultimately it was decided to make Gus a silent character. I've seen a bunch of other sites claim this as well, but haven't found the interview with Blanc or any other info on whether it's true or not (although something very similar happened with Gideon from Disney's Pinocchio). Has anyone else ever heard more about it?
