On May 19th, at age 96, Alan Young passed away. You may know him from all kinds of roles he played over his long career, but I best know him as the voice of Uncle Scrooge for over thirty years. He first played Scrooge for Mickey's Christmas Carol in 1983, and last for the Mickey Mouse short "No" that aired on Disney Channel on January 8, 2016.
I heard this sad news when debbie posted a sad drawing pic of Scrooge on the doodle thread. When I first heard of that news, I was in tears and sobbed a little. Ah, poor Scrooge has lost his latest voice actor and now we don't know who will voice him in the future Disney cartoons .
I'm also going to say: "Rest in Peace, Alan!" . *sobs* Goodbye! You will be truly missed. Sniff!
Talented man. Being honest though, can't really lament it. Man was nearly a century old, had a long and fruitful career, and the same for his life as far as I know. My respect goes to him.
Rest in peace, Mr Young... thank you for the wonders you have brought us.
*nods sadly* Uh-huh! . Yes, I agree with you that he have brought so many wonders for us! Sniff! . He did a good job at voicing Scrooge in all cartoons and videogames that featured him.
I can't think of much to say that hasn't already been said by other people. Making it to 96 and still being able to voice Scrooge up til then is very commendable. I just hope whoever Disney gets to replace him for the new DuckTales show can be able to hold a candle to him.
If anyone from IDW happens to read this post, it would be nice to see a dedication to him in an upcoming Uncle Scrooge issue.

They should get Robbie Coltrane. He has a very heavy and thick Scots Brogue. I'd love it if he'd be Alan's successor.
Goodby Mr. Ed, and Mr. Scrooge! You have entertained a lot of people for a long, long time. Like Barks, we had here another example of someone doing what he enjoyed doing, making a living at it, and, thus, putting relatively very little wear-and-tear on his or her body innards. I'm almost 70 years old, and hope to go on writing stories and drawing storyboards (and perhaps final pencils some day) until I can no longer hold a pencil (or plastic writing tool). Carl Barks and Alan Young and their like will be my models towards my goal.
Today Facebook reminded me that more or-less year ago was the very last apperance of Alan Young as Scrooge McDuck in Episode of the new "Mickey Mouse" cartoon title "No" where he ask Mickey to borrow five dollars... I recall he only had two or tree lines but it was great to heared him agian.
Young made previously apperance in episode "Goofy's first love" (Scrooge did appeared third time last December but was replace by John Kassir)
