I agree with you, Titus. Silas' inclusion is more of a representation of the McDuck who built the castle in the comics-universe.
I re-watched the relevant Ducktales episode the other day. Since it recycles the elements of a hound haunting a McDuck castle from The Hound of the Whiskervilles, I don't like to imagine that both the comic story and the episode exist in the same universe.

I understood what you tried to do, it's just i don't like to mix the universes, you know?
Speaking of Silas, is Scrooge's old grandpa Silas Elias from a story illustrated by Strobl named McDuck in the story? Or he was given the name McDuck by fans?
They are two versions of the same building. One is from the comics universe and the other is from the Ducktales universe. Its impossible to fit Silas and his castle in the comics timeline
You may not personally like it but yes there is, I just explained it to you. Namely, assume that some time after the Whiskervilles ran the McDucks out of their proper castle with the Hound, Silas tried to build a new one.

And then the McDuck clan was expelled from it by another hound, totally unrelated to the hound that expelled them from their first castle?
That's just...weird. It's like trying to put comics Seafoam McDuck and Ducktales Seafoam McDuck in the same universe. You can't expect people to believe that basically the same event happened twice with the same family

Donald is trying to find his "old sea dog grandpa" Silas Elias Duck. However, Scrooge says that Silas Elias is his relative too. The only way this is possible is if Silas Elias was actually a McDuck, and not a Duck. Alternatively, the Ducks and McDucks could have connected genealogically earlier in the timeline somehow. Like Downy O'Drake's mother could have been a Duck for example, or maybe Potcrack married a Duck? I don't like that, since it makes things more complicated than it needs to be. It also gets too close to incest, similar to when people put Donald and Daisy as cousins. I'm not a fan of that.

I know how you feel, mate. Once i saw a family tree where Grandma Duck's children's father was also Grandma Duck's father, and i left the Duck fandom for a long time after that...
Well, not all Ducks need to be related, just like not all Smiths and Hollands are related. Silas Elias could be Downy's maternal grandpa

Well, yeah. Weirder things have happened in the Duck universe by far. Though it could actually not be unrelated, if you want more theorizing: could be the DuckTales druids, when they tried to think up a way to get those blasted McDucks to leave them alone, looked into their history for inspiration, found reference to the Hound of the Whiskervilles, and decided to exploit their existing fear of spectral hounds when crafting their own Scooby-Doo charade.

I was under the impression that Silas Elias Duck was stated to be Donald's great-grandfather and Scrooge's grandfather, though I've never actually read the story. My current theory is that Titus McDuck (or whatever name you want to use for Scrooge's grandfather) married a Duck (probably Silas Elias's daughter). This does not discount Molly Mallard, as Molly may have died young, which would work with her appearance as a young, tired, and maybe even somewhat sickly-looking duck. Scrooge may have grown up with Miss Duck, not Molly Mallard, as his grandmother, though she really would have been a step-grandmother, and may have grown up with her father, Silas Elias, as a "grandfather" of sorts.

Didn't need to know this existed. Wow. That's certainly an extreme example of incest in Duck genealogy, though.
Marrying a cousin isn't near as bad as having children with one's father. By the time you get to third and fourth cousins I think the amount of DNA you're expected to share is significantly small, which is why I'm okay with Donald and Daisy being related, though I'd prefer the relation to be quite distant.
Go far enough up everyone's family tree, and you'll find that we're all related to each other somehow. I've read that, mathematically speaking, there's a good chance that we are all descendants of Genghis Khan or Charlemagne. That doesn't mean we carry their DNA, and just because there's a good chance doesn't mean it is true. Still, I think it's worth putting things in perspective and realizing that since Donald and Daisy are both ducks with the surname duck who are very similar in terms of physical features and come from the same geographical location, they're almost certainly related somehow. The question is if they are thirteenth cousins who trace their ancestry back to some European ancestor from the 1300's, if they are a little more closely related and trace their ancestry to someone from the 1700's or 1800's, or if they're just straight up first cousins or half-first cousins, tracing their ancestry back to Grandpa Duck.

That's actually a good idea, friend. Very clever!
About the tree i mentioned, i don't know much of it, only it is german and was made in late 1980s
That's one of the most confusingly drawn Duck family trees. Haha. Lines everywhere! Very weird...
I found it in a site with a couple of other not-so-famous duck trees and other famous (Like Barks' and Rosa's). One of them is a german version of Barks' family tree, but adding Pothole, Jake, Daisy's family, Cuthbert Coot, Whitewater Duck, Ludwig von Drake and the McDuck ancestors
Wow, that's fascinating. I wonder where the idea that Grandma had kids with her own father came from. So bizarre.
I never knew about that Family Tree page, Titus. Most of them appear on Gilles Maurice's page (which I have combed through thoroughly), but some of these were new. It's so odd how many family tree makers put Grandma and Scrooge together, even though they have different last names and backgrounds.

Maybe because in german they have the same last name (Dagobert Duck and Dorette Duck), though i used to think they were brothers when i was young and they don't have the same name in Brazil (Patinhas McPatinhas -Scrooge McScrooge- and Donalda Pato -Donalda Duck-)
