So, I just saw that Korhonen has written a story with the Micro-Ducks, The Flying Puck. I am very curious to know what happens in this story...and, of course, eager to add it to my list of sequels to Barks stories. Is anyone who has read it willing to post a summary? It's likely to be a while before I can get my hands on a copy--best bet is the German comic, a few months down the road, on German eBay.

Leave it to a Finn to write a hockey story. I am working on a couple of those, myself. It is obvious that if The Micro-Ducks are involved, and the title in Danish (at least) contains the words "Flying Puck", that The Micro-Ducks will carry a hockey puck, during a game into the opponents' net, to "cheat" for "the good guys". I'll be in Denmark in a few days, and will have access to that story immediately. I will report to you about it, If the answer has not been given by then.
The Micro-Ducks recruits Donald to teach them sports, however since they’re so science-minded and rational they don’t quite get it.
A second Micro-Duck story, D 2016-007 (not yet indexed) by Gaute Moe & Andrea Ferraris was also recently published. In this story the Beagle boys takes their ship and use it to rob the Money bin.
Also, Donald is upset that he misses the ice hockey game, and when he sees that his team are about to lose, he uses the saucer-disguised-as-puck to change the game.

Thanks for the heads-up! I'll look for that one. I'm not all that familiar with Gaute Moe. The only story of his I have on my re-read list so far is The Anti-Gravity Spell--in that one, I particularly like Paco Rodriguez' views of Duckburg. I just noticed on Inducks that that is currently his highest rated story!
Interesting that we have two new Micro-Ducks stories at once!

They also republished Barks original and the Vicar sequel recently, so it kinda seems like an effort to make them recurring characters.

Weird choice of recurring characters. What's next, regular stories about the Terries and Fermies?

Eh, why not? On both counts, actually. The Terries and Fermies' world could certainly support all sorts of stories set within it, if individual Terrie and Fermie characters were developed. I mean, Dr Leevezan and I are making an entire series out of stories about the Crew of the sodding Copper-Colored Cupids.
And is making the Micro-Ducks recurring cast really weirder than Eega Beeva?

Doesn't editorial up there famously fetishise Carl Barks to the point of it affecting both art edictorials and things like "avoid Ludwig or Fethry or Rockerduck, not Barks enough"? Makes sense then that they're going bottom of the barrel in finding any Barks character left to make recurring.

In my eyes, it is. Eega Beeva is at best a very fun and colorful character. The Micro-Ducks worked fine for the one story they were in (which was hardly Barks's best), but I don't see much potential in them for regular appearances. I didn't find them very interesting as characters in the first place.
Of course, I never found Oona interesting either, and yet Egmont produced tons of stories with her.

They did do that for a while (from the 80s onward), but during the past few decades they've brought back characters like Fethry. Ludwig also featured in a nice 2000s story which was published by IDW in one of their WDC issues, though I don't think he's been in many other recent Egmont productions.
Yeah, I'm getting some of the same vibe from this Micro Ducks revival... feels a little desperate.

I don't like Eega Beeva as a recurring character either.
