The question here is not whether you have cousins who live several kilometers away, but whether your parents' siblings could have children you wouldn't even know existed unless you "looked them up in a family album". Their existence should not be a surprise to you, even if you never met them.
They would be your first cousins! Fethryfan is right here, if you accept Rosa's tree, state that Whitewater is younger than Fethry and the family moves away from Duckburg before Whitewater is born, how could Donald not even know that Fethry had a brother?
As for Rosa's tree, I admit I do accept it. How could I not? I grew up on it, and together with "Life and Times" it was practically my first foray into non-Italian material and into more serious Disney material. Plus, when Rosa came in Italy last May I even got a signed copy of the redrawn tree, with myself as the husband of Della Duck and father of Huey, Dewey and Louie, who now share my surname. Ok, I guess these changes are (probably) non-canon, but my fondness for the legendary tree grew even further. I remember when I was in primary school, and after a quick glance on it in the Paperdinastia volume I decided not to look at it until finishing the book, because I wanted to study it carefully and because I wanted to create more hype and save it for the finish, to increase the enjoyment. It worked. Since that copy of Paperdinastia wasn't mine I couldn't keep it, but I decided to do a photocopy of some pages, and I chose the tree and the introductory article. I still have the multiple black and white photocopies from back then even though I now have many books with the actual tree and even a big poster.
I know how it feels. I became a fan of Disney because Life and Times, when i bought a collection with all the chapters plus the family tree in 2015, when i was 12. Perhaps one day i will mee Rosa and thank him for bringing me to the Duck fandom. Does Rosa still gives redraws trees?
