Max Goof in comics continuity? Feb 21, 2020 14:33:51 GMT

As far as I'm concerned, Goof Troop is its own self-contained universe with no bearing on other continuities or the comics-verse, the same way that the two DuckTales series do not impact the main Duckverse. Indeed, most core aspects of Goof Troop, such as Pete giving up his villainous ways to become a used car salesman (not much of a step up, as the joke goes), his family, his living next door to Goofy in Spoonerville, etc., haven't been used outside that show and its spinoff movies and comics. The only element of Goof Troop that has found its way outside the confines of that universe in a very limited fashion, however, is Goofy's son Max, almost exclusively in other animated shows (Once and Twice Upon a Christmas, House of Mouse). I believe we discussed on another thread how he made only a single appearance in a non Goof Troop-comic. (And a cameo here? Need more information on that one.) However, many people with only a rudimentary knowledge of various Disney universes are familiar with the idea that Goofy has a son, Max, and believe it to be established fact across all media. So my question is this: how would you feel if Max were made a regular character in the comics-verse? On Goof Troop, I believe it is heavily implied that his mother is dead, but one need not stick to that narrative: perhaps Goofy and Max's mother are divorced (Goofy is clearly single in the comics), and Max stays with her most of the time, explaining why he's not seen more often? I personally like the idea of one of the main characters having a child (a nice change of pace from all the nephews and nieces), even if rarely seen. Goofy seems to be a prime candidate for parenthood, since I consider him much older than the late teenage/early twenties Mickey and Minnie of the early Gottfredson continuities (although those characters seem middle-aged as well in more modern comics). Of course, I wouldn't include Pete's family or his Goof Troop relationship to Goofy. Also, what age would Max be in the comics? The child of Goof Troop, or the teenager/young adult of the spinoff movies, Christmas specials and House of Mouse?
