I believe I agree with Moose. I generally don't mind incorporating non-Barks/Rosa writers' stories into my head-canon, as long as there are no characters acting out of character and no major continuity errors.
Korhonen, in his new ”McDuck Journals”, develops Rockerduck’s origin slighly, further explaining how the son of a decent father could turn out so bad. It shows how young Rockerduck is sent to his law bending uncle, ”the richest man in Duckburg”.
By the way, Fredj - Is that story really set in Duckburg? That would contradict Rosa's timeline at least. I mean, Duckburg was pretty much just farmland when Rosa's Scrooge wore his argonaut outfit.

Yep, Duckburg ”one year later”. In the story Scrooge had to go back to Klondike for a year, while his sisters go home to Scotland to take care of the uncle Korhonen introduced in the previous cycle. As Scrooge returns he find that a city have sprouted up from nowhere.
These McDuck Diaries are clearly inspired by Rosa but takes a lot of liberties. For instance the Money bin isn’t there yet.

About the Gus-Grandma origin, when do those flashbacks take place relative to the present? When does Gus secure the gig? There's a theory that Gus replaced Grandpa Duck as the farmhand when the latter died. This would have happened no too long before the "now", as Grandpa is implied to still be alive in The Hard Loser.
We have to ask Scroogerello about the story--it's only been published in Dutch, and I haven't seen it.
I would have checked the issue— but I couldn’t get my hands on a copy! They’re these darn subscribers-exclusive issues that can’t be bought in the stores. But, from what I can read on the INDUCKS scan, it takes place three months after Gus has left/graduated “school” (presumably high school). So I imagine it doesn’t take place more than a few years before the present-day.

Aah, thanks for this! Interesting! This story would take place somewhere in between 1903 and 1909 then. Of course, it's annoying that Korhonen takes those liberties. I just wish things were ... I guess "cohesive" is the word. I'd prefer if the "facts" of the Duck-world and timeline agreed with each other, even between different creators.

Interesting! Thanks! This would mean that if this story is to line up with Gus replacing Grandpa sometime after The Hard Loser, the just-out-of-high-school Gus would have to be a few years younger than Donald. Age-speculation is of course irrelevant to this thread, but I think it's fun to think about.

Yes. While I’m a fan of Korhonen’s work in general I dislike this obstinate independence he’s insisted on with these stories, especially since their Rosa references are so obvious. I understand that he wants some freedom and make it his own thing, but I think he could have done that without as much bending of the ”facts” as he has done.
By the way, Miss Quackfaster is also given an origin story of sorts in the McDuck diaries, as a ”young journalist” who Scrooge knows through her aunt (that he met in the Klondike cycle).
”Miss Quackfaster, the young journalist, wanted to tag along! And I guess I owed her a favour.” ”This could become an exciting article!” ”Hmph! One shouldn’t have womenfolk on board!*” ”* Old superstition, now extinct!”

And another Korhonen-liberty, I see! I find it odd that she went from journalist to secretary, but we know so little about her that I guess any character development would be a positive. I still prefer Rosa's origin for her though.
Scrooge being sexist seems unnecessary. Is it relevant to the plot?
Lo$4, Raider of the Copper Hill, shows us John D. Rockerduck's origin as a spoiled kid who presumably inherits all of his father's wealth.

Off-topic: where this story has been published? On Inducks there aren't information about it, so I suppose is relativily recent? There is an english translation or only the swedish(? I suppose, so says Google)?

The first episode was published two weeks ago in Sweden, and the second episode this week. I think they were published in Denmark, Norway and Finland at the same time.
Scrooge meets Gyro for the first time in the third episode. Gyro is described as a kid so I guess he’s born around 1890-1895 in this version. Another big departure from Rosa who of course presented Gyro’s father as a kid at this time.
(Scrooge wanted help from Ratchet and his twin brother but they have disappeared so Gyro came instead)

Woooah...! That would make Gyro 50-60 years old in "the present". I always imagined he's got a few years on Donald, but this is... bizarre! Is there a reason why he didn't use Fulton instead? (I mean, besides the fact that Gyro is more recognizable to readers?)
