Wow, those scans are gorgeous! So there's somewhere you can get HD digital scans of Italian comics? That could be a massive boon to this thread given how many more stories have been released in Italian than English!
Fortunately I have a good quantity of italian comics (except of the Minni publication. I have at least 4 or 5 stories published only there that I would find for other Disney-family trees). But still cross-checking with different translation is useful, both to see how the names have been translated and also to clarify some confusing blood-relation (like "nipote", which in italian means both nephew/niece and grandson/daughter. This is a problem for at least one other tree that I'm building). Plus having a tree all in a single language would be useful, for what is now it is combining different translations, with some names adapted and some mantained.
But let's move to the new shipment of relatives:
- In På jagt efter fortiden Scrooge and nephew travels back in time to what seems like napoleonic France (so between 1790-1821?), and meets their ancestor(?), and maybe others. I've tracked a copy of that story, but it's in danish which I don't speak, so I will need to google translate every baloons. If someone else have the story and can check which relatives appears, I can source the scans.
- Moving to something that I've read and understood, in the italian translation of En lykkelig afslutning Donald and HDL learns of a distant french relative called Paperin de Canard in italian. He was a noble when the Revolution happened, so he had to escape in Quebec. He lived for some times painting, but had to flee again. He enrolled in the explorer corps, but was then captured by the natives. Imprisoned by them, he escaped thanks to a girl who was attracted by him. When trying to return to the civilization, an avalanche buried Paperin, but he survived thanks to a potion given to him by the girl. Rescued in the modern days, he returned to France and bought back his castle, then opened it to the tourists.
Do you have any scans of this Italian story? It features an obnoxious cousin named Baldo de Paperi who attempts to replace Donald as Scrooge's main heir. Gilles' tree calls this character Baldwin Von Drake, but I have no idea if that's an official translation.
