Here it is, June 9th, 88 years from Donald's first appearance and 102 years from his Rosa-determined birthdate. How are you celebrating? I am planning to re-read Rosa's "The Duck Who Never Was" and Korhonen's "Another One for the Album"--my two favorite "Donald's birthday" stories. I've read many others which haven't stuck--I can think of five, offhand, making a total of at least seven. If I currently were signed up for Disney+, I would also watch the first two episodes of "Legend of the Three Caballeros," since they take place on Donald's birthday!

Here in Finland, June 9 is "Donald's hatching day" and less important. The egg from which Donald hatched was laid on 13 March (Donald's laying day), a date that was announced by Walt Disney itself (although Donald didn’t make his first appearance until June). But in this way, the problem of two birthday, canonical and official, has been solved. But also for this same reason, the actual birthday celebrations were held in Finland in the traditional way already in 13 March. And at that day, I read the annual celebratory issue of Aku Ankka that was published in honor of Donald’s laying day (the magazine actually appeared a few days later on March 16 because the 13th did't set Wednesday on this year). The editorial had chosen 'Münchhausen' (translated as 'Puppuparoni' in Finnish) by Herman Roozen and Carmen Pérez as his birthday story, which was a fine story but not a diamond.
