Even the stories where some people in police department object to his collaboration are compatible with him being a "consultant" or a "contractor", with vague attribution on paper and probably without formal clearance to some direct police work.

Mickey Mouse's profession as an professional or amateur private detective is perhaps one of the most established (in the Finnish canon, detective profession is Mickey's main source of income), although Mickey has been seen in many different professions such as a package courier. I remember once reading stories where Mickey and Goofy were couriers for a package delivery company and traveled by truck or plane, having adventures in different parts of the world. The company's logo was a post letter with a wing attached. That has been the most memorable to me, even though in older stories, Mickey has been, for example, a steamboat driver and the owner of his own newspaper press. Mickey may also sometimes worked as an assistant to Doc Static or Professor Marlin and Zapotek or Professor Dustibones or Eega Beeva.

Did Ega Beeva pay Mickey in money for his services?  If so, was it money from the underground world from which he came?  Or was it American money?  What were the projects on which he helped?

Eega Beeva is from the future and she traveled to the past to study the people of the past. In some stories, such as Pin-Top PC ( inducks.org/story.php?c=D+99202&search=Nuppitietokone ), The Power Of Babble ( inducks.org/story.php?c=D+98213 ) , Over-Eega Retriever ( inducks.org/story.php?c=D+99064 ) and Pocket Full of Miracles ( inducks.org/story.php?c=D+2008-252&search=Taskun%20t%C3%A4ydelt%C3%A4%20ihmeit%C3%A4 ) Mickey helps Eega Beeva to investigate the effect of future technology on people of the past or strange events of the past (which are usually caused by Eega Beeva itself). Often in stories like this, Eega Beeva pays for Mickey's help in the form of goods and other commodities because Eega Beeva is hyper allergic to money and can't even be near it.

Zoom Transport, it was part of Egmont's Mickey canon until the late 90s reboot. They weren't couriers, but owners and sole employees. Inducks has a full list of the stories featuring this company.
