Apologies for the title, but I didn't really know how to phrase it.
Basically, we all know Donald, for the most part, as the everyman; however, there are some series that put him into much more out-there situations. While I'm interested in one-offs, I'm more interested in series; where it's not just one story, but several of them
As a few examples: He's a superhero in PKNA A spy in DoubleDuck A wizard in Wizards of Mickey
Are there more series that follow this kind of format? I know there's Fantomius, but I'm not sure how much presence Donald himself has in that.
I'd love to know more, if anybody knows of them - and I'd be interested in hearing more specific thoughts on what people think of these concepts!

The donald in WoM is not the same Donald from the "mainstream universe", though. He is clearly inspired both in the design and the character, both the two Donald are not the same (like Donald is not his own lookalike ancestors, despite those most often than not sharing name, face, body and character with him.
Since it had time to grow and evolve, the WoMDonald has changed from the mainDonald mold to a semi-independent character. For example a gimmick of him, his spells always being delayed, is initially being attributed to his bad luck (a mainDD trait), but after stories where he knows that his spells always hit later, he adapted and it became an ace of his spellcasting, so not a downside anymore, and not attributable to the bad luck.
There are probably other traits that WoMDonald has while mainDonald don't, but it has been years since I read a WoM story, so I can't remember any other.

Fantomius is set in the '20 Duckburg, so Donald never appears, other than with some time-travelling shenanigans. I guess you may be confusing the character of John Quackett with DD, because they can be drawn similar?

A spy in DoubleDuck
Before the serie DoubleDuck, it existed another "serie" where DD was a spy. All the PIA (Paperon Intelligence Agency) stories had DD, often with Fethry, having espionage missions for $mD. The tone was much more cartoonish than DoubleDuck, and the stories were much more autoconclusive (think the difference between Paperinik stories where he capture criminals and random supervillains in Duckburg, and PK where he fight alien or sci-fi threats, while driving forward a main plot related to the Evronians)
This isn't what I was expecting in the slightest, but I am here for it I'm keeping an eye out for Disney BIG #9, which has three Paperin-Tarzan stories - hopefully something crops up soon, because I'm very interested in learning more about this one!

He's not the same character, but he's still Donald Duck, right? As a comparable example, would it be like Donald in Kingdom Hearts? I'm totally fine with situations like that - I'm interested in different takes on the character!
Ahh, okay - I knew the series was about John Quackett, but I was under the impression that Donald had appearances here and there. I wasn't aware that he's not a prominent character; I'm only vaguely familiar with the series
I wasn't aware of PIA either - while I'd probably prefer to stick with DoubleDuck, it'd be interesting to see how the series differ!

There's this series, in which Donald and Fethry are members of a secret organisation that deals with different kinds of monsters.
I can't believe I forgot about this series! This is exactly the kind of thing I had in mind - though, sadly, a great many of the stories weren't published in English OR Italian.
I might look into picking up the French versions, though...

No, not really. This "series" (it's more like a set of sequels) feature the gorilla King, who gets very attached to Donald with all the complications that ensue, but there's nothing really extraordinary about how Donald acts in these stories. He usually ends up in a Tarzan costume at some point in them, but they're fairly standard Donald stories that just happen to feature a recurring character.
You might be interested in the Fantaleggende subseries, though, a beloved series of three stories, "King Scrooge and the Treasure of the Three Keys", "Sir Mickey and the Ride of the Nonexistant Knights" and "Sir Donald and the Cannolo Genie", set in a medieval universe with the core duck/mouse cast as knights and royalty. It's not really all THAT centered around Donald specifically, but the knight role should count as extraordinary.

Ahh, I see; I'm still interested in reading Paperin-Tarzan if the opportunity presents itself, but until I see the right issues popping up, I won't worry too much
I don't mind it not being centred around Donald as long as he's a prominent character, so this looks right up my alley! I'm fine including clearly 'non-canon' stories in my understanding, like Kingdom Hearts, Maui Mallard and Wizards of Mickey, so this is definitely worth a read! There's also a collection that has all three stories - if I can find it at a good price, I'll launch straight for it!

There are the also stories featuring Marco Rota's character Adoln Wild Duck, who is some sort of warrior (I'm not really an expert in the Marco Rota lore ). Technically speaking he is Donald's ancestor but he is the same as him in pretty much all aspects, so I think he should be mentioned.
