So quick question, have any of the stories actually gone out of publication yet? If I were to go out and buy a copy of the series from Fantagraphics would it not have these stories or is this something that will take effect in the near future?
It's my impression that all the later volumes of Fantagraphics' Don Rosa Library are now out of print. In my go-to Norwegian webshop, Adlibris, only the first four volumes can be ordered. Volumes 5-10 are all listed as sold out.
I'm not sure, however, if this was the case BEFORE Don Rosa announced the blacklisting of the two stories in Vols. 5 and 10, or if it happened shortly afterwards. If I recall correctly, I tried checking various webshops a few weeks after Don's announcement... and by that time, I believe they were unavailable.
The Barks volume "Lost in the Andes" seems to be out of print too, though I know that particular book has gotten at least five printings over the years.
So do we know if there is any way to possibly fight back against this decision or is it set in stone?
Read the thread. I don't think there's been any significant "updates" on the situation since the latest announcements shared here.
Well, that's a shame. I already own 3 different copies of the story from when I was a kid so thankfully I don't have to worry and libraries obviously will still carry the books so kids will still be able to read it for the first time. But man, that hit me hard, I remember all this first happened around the time of my birthday and I was genuinely kind of depressed because of it. I guess we can only hope and hey, if the internet can convince a giant company like Paramount to change Sonic's design for the film really far into development I'm sure we're not completely without hope. For now though, I just don't even know what to say except that I cannot stand Disney. I'm glad that they have been failing at the box office recently to Dreamworks and hope that they continue to fail.
FWIW, the publication date of the last German boxset (which should contain books 9 and 10 of the DRL, and therefore also "The Dream of a Lifetime") keeps getting pushed into the future. That to me signals at least the hope from Egmont's side that something about the situation might change soon, because otherwise I guess Egmont would've already settled for releasing an incomplete book.

There is no reason for them not to publish volume 9 ASAP, right? What are they waiting for? As for volume 10, maybe Don does not allow a publication of it if it's incomplete. I certainly would not.

Don doesn't own the rights to the stories. Disney does. So he has no say in that. But he does own the rights to the use of his name.

Don owns the rights to the name Don Rosa, so "volume 9 of the Don Rosa Library" can't be published without his say. They WOULD be able to publish a book containing the stories that would've gone in a vol 9 minus Dream of a Lifetime, but in that case they'd have to call it something else.

Emphasis mine. If they want to publish the volumes as box set, then they cannot publish volume 9 before 10,

I know that. Don Rosa can stop the publication of a book titled "The Don Rosa Library vol 10"
Alright, if anyone working at Disney is visiting this forum, they need to man up and finally leak the complete list of comics that were banned by Disney.
