Bobo the Elephant (1934)
-"Garfle!" Cutie
-Gottfredson's skill when it comes to pachyderms is pretty good. Nice blend of what an actually baby elephant would look like with that cartoony gloss. He had to have gone to the library to look at photos or maybe even took a trip to the zoo?
-Good for a gag, but elephants are simply too heavy to jump
-Horace is a pretty good sleuth, but I guess a dynamic of Mickey, Horace and Goofy as detectives just wasn't in the cards
-Hmm maybe it was one of those fabled circuses that didn't abuse its animals
The Sacred Jewel (1934)
-Good to see Captain Churchmouse again
-I see the words "home-made blimp" and just like that, I'm all the more intrigued to see how this plays out
-We need more pouty Goofy in things
-Maybe I'm a bit ignorant, but I fail to see how garlic soup would be the kick that three barrels of sauerkraut needed to raise a blimp. Not a sentence I'd ever thought I'd write
-Houv-ya-ben seems like a pretty cool dude. Though those sunglasses may be doing most of the heavy lifting
Pluto the Racer (1934-1935)
-You can't see their faces at first, but you know those hecklers are Horace and Goofy. Would've been neat if we had those two team up more. I reckon Goofy could balance out some of Horace's bluster, Horace could take the lead if Goofy becomes to bogged down in the details, but they are both prone to cowardice and laughing at others misfortune
-Puh what a bunch of stiffs! Pluto may be prone to distraction but he's fast. Shoebuckle was right to take a chance on him
-Oh uh...well. Maybe he wasn't right in the short run? Surely the long run
-Is Shoebuckle wearing a sweater with a "Z" because he's Zowie's biggest fan or is it a sign of cocky arrogance? He does sound pretty sure Zowie could beat any of the other pooches. Enter your headcanons now
-Laundry jokes?
-Mickey loosing his mind talking to Minnie is hilarious
-TIL "tommyrot" means "nonsense". Let's bring that word back
Editor-In-Grief (1935)
-Goofy would make out like a bandit if he worked as a paparazzo
-Woof that's a rough first press
-Uh oh, you know a guy means business when he lights a match by striking it along the sole of his shoe. Still, good on Mickey for telling him to amscray
-Mickey sure is casual about his place getting peppered with bullets. "Aw heck, it's those darn motor enthusiasts playing tricks again". Yes, I absolutely had to look up what "the gas house social club" and "skylarking" meant
-Ha, Mickey's finally getting wise that no jail can hold Pete for long. Nice of Gottfredson to mix it up a bit and have Pete evade capture this time around
-Seems like Horace only wears his overalls when he's doing manual labor of some kind, but when he's at home relaxing or just walking around, he's totally fine being in the buff
