So far I've read just a few stories by William Van Horn, at least compared to the big amount of his production. I am probably still missing his best accomplishments with the ducks.
Anyhow, as far as I have read I like his work. I do not even understand exactly why. His stories are like gently ironical family snapshots, with not much content from the point of view of the plot. Sometimes almost no content. Nevertheless, even his most boring stories gave me at least some good feelings. Maybe the reason lies in his good staging, which I find synthetic and elegant. Not as effective as Barks, of course, but more on less in that direction.
Another reason is perfectly nailed by Pan Maciej:
Most of the stories by WVH that I have seen were in French, but his dialogues are clearly much better in English of course. In particular when Donald and the nephews star insulting each other: I love that !
My search for WVH's stories in old issues of WDCS and Picsou Magazines is still ongoing anyway. I will tell you more in the future, if my opinion changes.
P.S.: I don't like Noel's much work on Mickey. Even because in general you can hardy digest the Egmont Mickey when you grow up with the far more complex personality of the Mickey Mouse developed by the best Italian writers of the 90's, such as Marconi, Mezzavilla, Artibani, Ziche, and above all Faraci (wait for these guys to be IDWished, American friends...there is not only Scarpa and Casty, believe me ).

His comic always had this weird vibe about them... There is something almost dream like about his art (like we are watching a word in a mirror) which while I can appricate for creating surreal atmosphere, there is something I can't put my finger on it that stopes me from fully enjoying them each and evry time.
