Just a quick question. I live in the US. Spanish is my second language. Does anyone know where I can purchase Disney Comics in Spanish online?
Thanks!
I'm afraid you will be in for a big disappointment. I read Spanish, as well, and wanted to get stories of mine printed in Spanish language books. Unfortunately, only a handful of my stories have been printed in Egmont-affiliated books published in Spain during the 1990s And those comic book titles are no longer published. Even the Disney publishers in Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Venezuela don't publish their traditional Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck lines anymore. It's a shame, because back in the 1950s, '60s and '70s, "Pato Donald" (Donald Duck) and "Tio Rico"(Uncle Scrooge) sold like hotcakes. As far as I can tell, only Patomas (Fantomias) the futuristic Donald series, and Don Miki, the futuristic Mickey Mouse detective series are still published(in Spain), and the regular traditional Disney have not been published since the 1990s (creeping up to 2002 in a couple Spanish-speaking countries). So, it seems you won't be able to buy current Egmont, Sanoma, Abril or Disney Italia (/Panini) - produced stories in Spanish Language books (other than the futuristic ones). I assume that you can get those directly from Panini España. You can also buy the complete "Collected Works of Carl Barks" (Spanish Egmont Carl Barks Library). It's very deluxe quality, but costs a fortune (at least, the Northern European versions did. And shipping cost to you would be a fortune. I'm waiting for that quality set to be printed in Dutch or English. I have the German set, but hate reading Barks in German.
In any case, I think you should look contact the bigger online comics sale shops in Mexico, Spain, Argentina and Chile, and see if they handle 2nd hand Disney Comics from the Egmont years (1990s to 2002). Here are some leads to try. But really, I think they aren't likely to handle much that you'd want. But, it should be worth a try.

If you go on the American eBay, you'll find some issues of Pato Donald and Tio Rico for sale. Most are pretty expensive single issues, but there are some decent deals. If you go to ebay.es (Spanish eBay), you'll find only American comics! Unless I'm just somehow doing the search wrong.

The problem is that Spanish-speaking kids today have no interest in Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse comic books. So, you can't find them en masse, for low prices in antiquariats in Spanish speaking countries. They are very expensive in shops as ancient collectors' items. You'd have to pay through the nose for ancient paper that is ready to crumble, containing Barks and Strobl stories you already have in English language. I think that the O.P. wants Disney comics stories from European producers that he can't get from IDW, and as he can read Spanish, hoped that he cold expand his Disney Comics reading enjoyment by getting what is available in Spanish, that is not in English. I don't think the goal is just to read Disney Comics in Spanish language. In any case, payingcollectors' prices for ancient Tio Ricos and Pato Donalds is not practical if one isn't nostalgic for those exact issues.
In Brasil they have an absurd abundance of disney comics, its almost like Italy, they are kind of understandable if you speak spanish, just takes a bit of extra work to pick up all the bits and pieces. I think its all due to the publisher, in my country we had a weekly comic with Mickey and the whole gang, all great stories, Paul Murry and such, they were always selling like crazy for 50 years, been a huge part of every generation and then the publishers changed, Egmont got all the right and they started publishing some half magazine, half fun book thing, it wasnt a real comic book anymore so people stopped caring and todays kids have no clue what we had couple of decades ago. Imagine if we actually had all these comics in english:
Planeta DeAgostini started re-printing the old Don Miki series a few years ago. Looks like all issues still are available for ordering online, but I'm not sure if they offer international delivery.
