Considering that Paul Rudish, the producer and director of the shorts, is being credited here for both writing and art and the plots mentioned in the solicit are all shorts from the series have me worried that this is going to be the same thing. I really hope that's not the case because it would a huge disappointment if it was.
Nothing against the new Mickey shorts, I've been loving them. I just think comics made from screencaps are the laziest thing ever.

Adaptions?! Are you WAKing kidding me! This is a terrible idea and a loss of 4 months of great issues of Mickey Mouse! I will not be buying these and I hope this does not damage Mickey's sales when the regular title is brought back.
I enjoy the new Mickey Mouse cartoons as animated cartoons NOT comic books. If IDW had made a deal with Disney to use the modern designs to lower the costs to produce original material I would be thrilled with this. But adaptions!!!!!?

I agree. This seems like a terrible idea, and I'm not sure why this offering had to take the place of the regular Mickey series rather than be a parallel title. Are we really sure these aren't more screencap stories? A Scott Tipton is being credited for the series, but "adaptations of the Mickey shorts" sounds suspicious, why not create new stories with the look and feel of this series? I'm disappointed that IDW is choosing to go this route with its first foray into original Disney material based on the classic characters (if this is indeed original material and not screencaps).
Regardless, new stories with these "modern" designs would be an abomination as well, IMHO. They may be tolerable on screen but I'd really like to see new American stories using the traditional art style, somewhat similar to the Mickey Mouse Adventures stories that Disney Comics Inc. put out in the early 90s, by Rick Hoover, Stephen DeStefano et al.
From the little information we got so far, my understanding is that these are not the same stories that were published in the two comiXology issues and the 2013 Comic Zone issue. Most (if not all) stories in the current Mickey Mouse Shorts comic series are adapted (if you can call it that) by John Green. Inducks doesn’t say anthing about that though.
The Scott Tipton adaptation will hopefully be real comic art based on the animation series and not selected screencaps put together. If so I’m curious to see how it turns out and will wait until I’ve read it to pass on judgment.
Unless these adaptions are going to greatly expand on their original cartoons I'm not interusted and I don't see the point. If these turn out to be good I will say so and buy them... But things don't look good right now.

Who knows whether it's the case ? They could be adaptations in the same sense that DuckTales comics were "adaptations"; adaptation of the TV series' concept as a whole, but not adaptation of each episode individually.
Problem with that is that the solicit specifically describes the plot of three or four of the shorts- Donald with fliperboobootosis, Goofy in the dog contest, etc.
