Some people have already asked for this - since the adaptations of Fantagraphics' Don Rosa and Floyd Gottfredson Libraries have worked so well. In particular, some people got into Duck comics via the DRL and have become interested in Barks' stories.
Too bad Fantagraphics' Carl Barks Library isn't done remotely as well as their Gottfredson and Rosa libraries. I find it a little sad that the often badly-chosen colors and sloppily written story notes of the current Barks library get spread to more languages.
Then again, Germany has had so many complete and collected editions of Barks already that by translating the Fanta library as-is, they can arguably offer something "new".
Does anybody know if the delay in volume 26 "The Golden Nugget Boat" (and maybe vol. 27 "Duck Luck") has anything to do with Corona or the recent economic crisis due to the war in Ukraine? Are Fantagraphics still doing all right?

Fantagraphics is in a great financial situation. No need to worry.
Most likely got to do with the recent paper shortage (also partially because of the war in Ukraine). Lots of publishers are forced to delay books because of thi.

Wow. I didn't know that there was a paper shortage. I googled it, and indeed there are plenty of news articles about that. That eases my mind! Fantagraphics will definitely finish the series.
BTW, anybody have a guess how many volumes are left to be published? According to the Wiki page on Fantagraphics series (in the table there you can click on a header to order on volume number or release date) vol. 1 to 4 have yet to be published. Including the announced volumes for this year Fantagraphics is at volume 26. Volume 26 contains the story "Duck Luck" which is from 1961. Barks roughly worked until 1966. Each volume contains very, very roughly a year of comics. So should we expect about another 10 volumes (including extra's from after Barks' retirement)? With two volumes per year that would be around 2027?

The 1983 Another Rainbow set was 30 volumes. When this set begun the number of 30 books was thrown into the conversation. So I would be guessing that the total of The Complete Carl Barks Disney Library will be somewhere close to the 30 volumes.

That makes sense. So that's about 8 volumes left after this year and probably a complete set in 2026.
I just received Barks’ Golden Nugget Boat a couple days ago. Another great looking book. I was wondering if anyone had read it already and noticed if there was any edit/censuring on this volume.
Really looking forward to getting the final how many ever remaining books, especially the first four, and having a complete Barks library.

Thanks for that information! Are you an American? Here on the Dutch Bol.com shop they don't have it (yet). And Dutch Amazon asks 36 Euro for it but they (still) ask 25 to 30 Euro for the other "regular" Barks Fantagraphics books...
And I see that it's finally indexed on Inducks too.

Yeah, I’m in the United States. Hopefully you’ll get your copy soon. I’m kind of surprised no one is talking about it. Are folks done with the Barks’ books or just don’t have a copy yet?
I order my books through a company called DCBS which allows me to pre-order it and then I get one shipment a month with all of the stuff that’s come out since my last shipment. Just pre-ordered the Bear Mountain Tales book last month and now the Jubilee Celebration book this month. So much HC Disney goodness from Fantagraphics.

Thank you for that info. I think nobody's talking 'bout it because they don't have it yet. Like I was told in this topic a few replies above this one: there's a paper shortage. Usually one Fantagraphic Barks book is issued in the spring and one about now: in the fall.
I've pre-ordered a book once (on Amazon or Bol.com): I didn't get it when it finally was issued. The Help Desk advised me to cancel the order and to (re-)place a regular order. So I was the only one who actually got the book "late", ha ha. Maybe that's why some haven't got the book yet. One of the biggest on-line book stores (Bol.com aka Bol.de) doesn't have "The Golden Nugget Boat" yet. And they removed the listing for the next volume "Duck Luck". This paper shortage is getting serious!
Anyway, I might have to go against my principles and order it for an amount that is too high on Amazon. FOMO: fear of missing out if they might get sold out. Sigh...

Sadly, there is one story published in modified form in the latest volume. As Mikkel Hagen writes about on the Carl Barks - The Good Artist Facebook group, "Bongo on the Congo" is published in a censored version. Specifically, the natives' hair is redrawn in a few panels, and some words in the dialogue are replaced.
However, the changes in this case were not done by Fantagraphics but were actually made during the Gladstone era. If Inducks is correct, the censored version was first published in a Gladstone comic book in 1987... so surprisingly, it appears not to have been done for the 80s Carl Barks Library. (Maybe someone who owns the library can confirm?) Thad Komorowski also writes in a comment that Fantagraphics simply used the censored version by mistake for their editon.
Still, though, it's weird. Fantagraphics bases their coloring directly on the originally published comic books (excluding the modern-day colors for Scrooge and Donald's clothes, which they have started using in the last few years). So how could the colorist NOT notice the changes to the artwork, especially in the panel where we see the village warriors in detail?
Last half of page 7, original 1960 version:
Last half of page 7, censored Gladstone version (reused by Fantagraphics) - natives' hair redrawn:
First half of page 8, original version:
First half of page 8, censored Gladstone version (reused by Fantagraphics) - dialogue changes in panels 1 and 3, plus redrawn natives in panel 2 (this last change actually isn't mentioned on Inducks, which only says that panels 7.7, 8.1 and 8.3 were censored):
I really hate some of the colouring in the latest volume. Gladstone’s jacket in The Golden Nugget Boat, the Beagle Boy’s trousers and caps in Billions in the Hole and all the other weird bluish greens throughout the book. Almost hurts the eyes to look at.
On a more positive note I noticed that the phrase ”I’d touch off a holocaust of gas bombs and land mines” in Billions in the Hole hadn’t been censored.

It appears the people approving these books have eased up a bit. Let's hope the word can also be re-inserted in a future printing of "Christmas in Duckburg".
I hate to say it, but I have to think that the use of the h-word in "Billions in the Hole" probably just slipped through the cracks rather than being an example of loosened-up censorship policies--after all, in "Under the Polar Ice", the editors did not censor the dialect of the genuine "wild Indians" in "Black Wednesday", but did censor the dialect of the fake tourist-Indians in "Riding the Pony Express." I suspect it all depends on what the Disney people notice and what they don't notice.
