For whatever reason, the boxed sets of Disney Masters haven't sold well—we managed to keep the "collectors' box" slipcases afloat longer than the "gift box" (character-based) slipcases, but ultimately it seems the market wouldn't support them.
I hope we'll try again later; I liked having them in boxes, myself (or we wouldn't have done it!).
Hopeful update: Fanta management tells me that we're now planning to try some more Masters boxes next year. No idea of the schedule yet, but I'm glad they're not gone for good.
Of course just after I buy all the newer ones individually lol. The buyers curse.
Because waiting to read them is something I don’t do well, usually I buy the books individually, but I also see the appeal of boxed sets. I hope that they continue to sell well enough to keep them going for those who want them. I’m also glad to see Disney Masters continue as well as the new Disney Afternoon Adventures book. A bit off-topic, but a lot of those stories are things I wouldn’t have gotten to see as I wasn’t a reader of Disney Adventures magazine, since by that time I was out of the demographic the magazine was aimed at. The Goofy Movie comic is worth the price of admission on it’s own.
I'll usually pick books as they come out but since I didn't start getting the masters books until there were a few box sets out I got those, and since at the time it looked like they were sticking with two boxes per year I just decided to stick with them. I'm going boxes for the Carl Barks Library as well but individually for the afternoon books (assuming there's eventually going to be box sets) If you you could pick up just the empty boxes it'd completely solve the problem lol. The boxes just look so nice and fancy.

I hope they do come back. Does this mean that the 2022 books will be in boxes, or will you go back and put issues #13-#18 in boxes next year? Some clarity on issues #13-#18 would be appreciated.

You are not alone. I just ordered the last four and pre-ordered the next two books. I hope for more box sets in the future, but yeha, it will be a bit annoying if those books end up getting a box after all.

I believe we'll start with #13-18. I'll let everyone know if this changes.
Sorry if this has been asked before, but are there any plans for Disney Masters volumes for Vicar (his 90s works) or William Van Horn? Many thanks
Personally, if Disney Masters does get a Vicar volume, I would prefer a best of-selection from all decades of his work. The 70s and 80s most certainly deserve representation too.

I like Vicar's '70s work best, before he started cluttering up his panels with too many lines and too much detail, and before his inkers started making much thicker lines. His '70s drawing looked very much like Barks' 1953 style. I don't like his style after 1983, or so.
In the spring we'll have a Casty volume, then another Kinney and Hubbard (technically Vol 2 of 4).
Can't wait to find out the artist/writer for the next Mickey volume following the Casty book. I probably look twice a day for new Disney Masters listings.

I loved Vicar's 90s style growing up and still have a fondness for it. But in later years, I have found his earlier artwork very appealing, partly for some of the reasons you mention. There's definitely a difference before and after he got others to ink his art. Ideally, I think a Disney Masters book should take the occasion to showcase Vicar's art from both the 70s/80s and later.

Haha, that's dedication! I'm mostly content with following the news here, myself. Very much looking forward to the next Scarpa book with Mickey in the title role.
