Dick Kinney and Al Hubbard second volume releases today!
AND it includes my favorite Fethry/Donald/Tabby story, "Out of the Depths Despair"--I just think that one has the very best array of funny, expressive Tabby pics.
These stories are chronological, aren't they? Do we think they will continue and go for all Kinney/Hubbard stories?
I believe they are chronological, and I would wager that David would love to continue with the K/H stories, contingent on how well these sell.
I have read the first book (which I very much enjoyed), and the stories aren't presented chronologically inside it. Which confused me, because the last sentence of the afterword states, "We are honored to bring you (...) a complete chronological run of Kinney's and Hubbard's Donald and Fethry stories in their original layout...".

I believe they're chronological from book to book, but within the individual books they mix it up, to get a better narrative flow. Like in the first Van Horn volume: If they had done it strictly chronological, they would have started with a bunch of one-pagers and short stories. But instead they lead off with the Scrooge Vs Baron von Strudel "Pie in the Sky" story.

That's what I was wondering. I guess it makes sense, though I think I would have liked a strictly chronological presentation of the Fethry stories in order to better see Hubbard's art evolving.

Hey all, the Fethry stories are presented chronologically in our books in the order they were written and coded—notice how their S-code numbers are always in sequence. I felt it was best to show the way Kinney's *characterization* of Fethry developed, even if the stories weren't *published* (or perhaps drawn, at least in the beginning) in code-order.
The sample non-Fethry Hubbard and Kinney stories (0.0. Duck, Scamp, Goofy, and so on) are sprinkled through the books almost at random, just for variety, though the 0.0. Ducks are presented in order.
I'd indeed prefer to eventually have four volumes in all, which would theoretically collect all the Kinney/Hubbard Fethrys and 0.0. Ducks.

Ah, so THAT's the logic! I was looking at the publication years for the stories, but didn't think about the codes. (I did understand that the Scamp stuff etc. was just inserted at random.)
The story codes are a good argument for choosing the order you did, certainly. It feels obvious to me that not all the stories were drawn exactly in that order, since S 64038 (Time to Duck) at page 65 in the book has Hubbard's original design of Fethry, while the "finalized" design is on display in S 64033 (Haste Makes Waste) at page 35. Noticing that is what led me to conclude the stories weren't actually presented completely in production order.
No one seems to mention them, but the O.O. Duck stories have been a lot of fun in these books as well as the Fethry stories. It's also funny to note that in the one Tony Strobl drawn Fethry story in the most recent book, Hard Haid Moe and his dog look like they jumped out of an Al Hubbard story (right down to the inking and line weight!) compared to the standard Strobl Ducks.
Good to know about the story order for the Kinney/Hubbard volume. Thanks @rampaith!
My LCS is having Diamond issues, so I have to wait another 2 weeks - boo! 🤣
Looking at inducks to see what’s in store for the next volume, (Paul Murray), we have a few Gottfredson stories that Murray redrew. Are these to be included in a separate volume?
Loved it and can’t wait for the next Kinney/Hubbard volume.
I did notice a goof on page 170, where the dialogue has been switched between panels 5 and 6. Nothing that bothers me but perhaps something to fix if there are future printings.
