Haha! WOW, that first one has quite a title. "Invasion of the Killer Penguins". And that Inducks description: "What if MM wasn't MM? What if he was Mickey Duck? Or Mickey Elephant? Mickey Penguin? Would he still be MM? And would it make him better suited to tackle the invasion of the giant killer penguins?"
I may have read both of these, but I can't remember. Still, too bad for penguins that you now can't stand ANY Disney comics with them. That Scarpa story is good.
why wouldn't they separate the masters line in to mouse books and duck books so we get them more often. is there a large crossover between both with having fans reading both or there is more ducks only or mouse books only fans vs fans who get both, i only read the duck books but curious to know do the majority read both.

I get selected mice and selected ducks from the Disney Masters series. I want stories and creators that interest me. If a book contains both mouse and duck stories, that's often a plus as long as they're good stories.
Are there no mouse stories in any of the duck books you've bought, then?

When will we see the next box sets? Can't they be released faster as the books has been released already. Thank you for your help with information :-)
Will we get more box sets? I’m hoping so as that is the format I’m buying these in but I’ll buy the single releases if they didn’t sell well enough to continue making them. Dear Fantagraphics, please release more Disney Masters box sets. Thanks!
i mainly stick to the duck stories because in the past the i have never enjoyed mouse books
Which mouse creators have you read in the past? Have you tried any of the classic stories by Floyd Gottfredson from the 1930s? Or any of the Mickey comics by Romano Scarpa or Casty?

I read the Gladstone comics as a kid, bough the Gottfredson boxsets as they came out and stopped after the third one and read the first scarpa masters book. I didn't know if most people fall in both camps or are one sided ( like me on the ducks books). I am happy for people that read both in the masters but just wish there was a way to get more duck books mainly jippes, van horn and more haymens but i do recognize that's likely just my own preference.
At least Scrooge has had some happy experiences with penguins.
How could I forget about that one! Now that's a great comic with penguins.
But yeah, I was being somewhat facetious (although I still think the Scarpa story is one of his weaker ones). The Macan story was widely recognized as a low point, so much so that it became a recurring theme to call a story that people didn't like "a giant penguin" (akin to a misfire, a dud), and a penguin emoji has been used rather extensively at times.
- Van Horn ones collect his whole output (in about 8-9 books?)
Where did you read this? I looked for "Van Horn" in the whole thread and couldn't find anything similar. Anyway, I would love a complete collection of his stories, since many weren't published in Italy and not even in the US.
So far, I've got Van Horn (first?) volume, Murry's Blot volume and the two (out of four) Kinney/Hubbard ones, which I am enjoying very much.
- and a couple of box sets of previously published books
I found the following ones listed:
September 26, 2023 - Disney Masters Collector's Box Set #9: Vols. 17 & 18 September 26, 2023 - Disney Masters Collector's Box Set #10: Vols. 19 & 20 October 10, 2023 - Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge Gift Box Set "The Twenty-four Carat Moon" & "Island in the Sky": Vols 22 and 24
But no box set for the first two volumes "Disney Afternoon Adventures" are announced yet. I've been holding of buying those books as I prefer getting the box sets. But it would be nice to know if they are going to do boxes for this series or not.
Wahoo! There’s some good stuff in this volume. Even though I have it all in other reprints and originals
Amazon lists Terror of the River, Mahajarah Donald, atom Bomb. At 193 pages, this is my guess at the contents
Volume 4. MAHARAJAH DONALD
Maharajah Donald. The Peaceful Hills The Terror Of The River. The Firebug Seals Are So Smart Santa’s Stormy Visit. Donald Duck’s Atom Bomb. The Smugsnorkle Squattie. WDC&S 70 Swimming Swindlers Playin’ Hookey The Gold-Finder Donald Duck And The Boys (bill Collector) Turkey Trouble The Cantankerous Cat Going Buggy Jam Robbers Picnic Tricks. WDC 79
So... the first of Scarpa's four strip stories done as an homage to Gottfredson, and rarely printed outside Italy (only France, Greece and Portugal have seen it so far). I wonder how the format is going to be handled?
Also the introduction of Kildare Coot (which is quite a funny story, if perhaps a bit "of its time" when it comes to depicting mental illness) and one of my favourite Mickey stories ever. Looks like a really good compilation. I especially like that Scarpa wrote almost all of it.
Regarding the chronology, "Topolino dietro il sipario" happens between the frog story and Brigaboom, but I don't know how much Zenobia is involved in Brigaboom so maybe it doesn't matter.
