What does it say about their confidence in their own in-house comics publisher, Marvel, especially when Big Hero 6 originated in Marvel comics? That’s a question for another day.
If we're playing Devil's Advocate, it could be the other way around. Precisely because Marvel had a "Big Hero 6" title all along, they feel it'd just confuse readers if they also published the movie-derived book, which takes place in an entirely different continuity.
Plus, Marvel doesn't exactly have a great track record with "kid-friendly" books.
Squirrel Girl, though.
Okay, sure, but one good book does not a track record make... besides, Squirrel Girl is definitely part of the Marvel Universe, even if her book is more parody than anything.

All good points. Still, I do feel like that series' tone and artstyle are close enough to the Disney Big Hero 6 to provide a template.
