Heeey. Remember how Grandma's farm was discussed earlier in this thread? And the relation between it and Duckburg? Well, I just read Hobblin' Goblins (W DD 26-03) by Barks, in which HDL say that it's 5 miles (~8 km) from Donald's house to Grandma's farm. The story doesn't give any information about whether the farm is a part of Duckburg or not... but still.
Given the history land ownership in the area, you could say that Duckburg is a part of Grandma's farm.
Hi and what's up, fellow forum-folk. As usual, I don't know if this is relevant to the thread, but I think I accidentally stumbled upon Grandma Duck's farm's address. From Turkey with All the Schemings:
So... is Quackby 7311 her address? I've never called a phone operator so I don't know how it works. What kind of a name is "Quackby" anyways? Shouldn't it be like... Quackby Lane or something...?
Quackby would be the telephone exchange name (and most likely also the name of the area where she lives). Normally the first two letters, QU, would correspond to numbers on a rotary phone, but in this case it also seems to be a joke on Barks’ part as the letter Q didn’t appear on those phones. Perhaps also a precaution to make sure no reader attempted to make a call.
LP , that's Grandma's phone number! Back when you had to tell the operator the town and the (in this case, four-digit) phone number!
Oops, sorry! I assumed every phone back then had rotary dials, meaning that asking an operator to dial a phone number for you would be redundant. I guess I'm too young to know these things. I'm still part of a generation that should stay off old people's lawns!
But hey, that means that my last post was more relevant to the thread than I thought! This means that "Quacktown" isn't a thing in the Barks-universe! (Of course it's not - he never used that name. But now we know that there's no room for it either!) Grandma lives in Quackby, which would then be a rural town very close to Duckburg! If we take the second-to-last post I made in the thread into account, then Quackby would be around or less than 5 miles from Duckburg! But wait - there's more! In Good Neighbors, Donald and his nephews move to a part of Duckburg that is "next to the last house on the last street in town". If we assume that this is the same house he lives in in Hobblin' Goblins (where it's stated that the Ducks' house is 5 miles from Grandma's farm), then we can further assume that Quackby is 5 miles away from the city limits of Duckburg!
Now I'll go into head-canon-speculation. We've mentioned earlier in the thread that "Mouseville/Mouseton is two towns away from Duckburg". I like the idea that Donald and Mickey met as kids, sometime before The Adventures of Mickey Mouse from 1931 (the one where prototype Donald Duck shows up). At this time, Mickey lives in a rural area, probably the Silo Center area of Mouseville/Mouseton. If Quackby is the town in between Mouseville/Mouseton and Duckburg, it would be in close proximity to Silo Center, which would allow for Mickey to meet a young Donald who is living at his grandmother's farm. ... I don't quite know how to fit Pickleburg into the geography however...

Oh, so Quackby isn't necessarily a different town, then? It could simply be a rural area in the outskirts of Duckburg?

We also see the Ducks living at the outskirts of town in Trick or Treat!

Quite possible. I believe each telephone exchange would at most service 10000 subscribers so larger cities would have more than one.

I really like Quackby as a name. It rolls off the tongue, doesn't seem forced at all. I can easily imagine a Quackby, England where some distant cousins of the Ducks still roam.
