Just curious, wasn't aware of the episode or the home video art?
The art. (Of course I'm aware of the episode. Got it on DVD.)
It's a pity they didn't use that art on one of the cases inside the first DVD set. Would have made a better motive than that dinosaur picture, I think.
Donald ended up in jail in Carl Barks' original (censored) version of "The Firebug". Of course, he wasn't really on the "right" side of the law, as he WAS starting fires illegally.
I'm surprised so few Mickey Mouse comics have been mentioned. Gottfredson notwithstanding, there has of course been tons of comic-book stories where investigator/detective Mickey ends up behind bars for some reason. That includes several Paul Murry serials which I can't remember the titles of. But here are a few stories that I do remember:
There's a nice Duck Avenger story (I PK 102-1) where Duck Avenger wants to help a family who are being put under pressure by a villainous character (I think he wants their land, and they have debts). The young boy had written to a famous movie actor and writer who plays a hero's role but completely felt he wasn't up for it, as he's just an actor and has no means to help the family. Donald finds out about this because his nephews were puzzled about the sudden end of his TV series, so he investigated all this and agreed to help. But the minute Duck Avenger steps into this small village, he's arrested by the sheriff for being masked!
Donald ends up in prison in the Italian Martina/Bottaro story “ Paperino e il conto di Monte Cristo” after Scrooge and Gladstone make a dirty trick on him ( something with fake dollars) so they can build a new railroad on his house. Something like that.
The fact that nobody has mentioned it made me wonder if my memory went wrong... As I recall Donald is in jail in Volcano Valley (the avator picture of Monkey_Feyerabend).
