So, as I announced earlier, I'm back after a long hiatus from posting - I won't delve into the specifics, but I'm hoping to stick around this time.
I've obviously missed out on a great many discussions; but while I've been away from the board, I was actually considering ways to engage with people again when I came back.
Sadly, I missed the last run of That Duckfan's review series - I had hoped that I'd get myself back here in time for it, but sadly, 'twas not meant to be.
However, I've been thinking; there are plenty of Disney products that I haven't seen - and, in a similar vein, there are plenty that others haven't seen.
So... what about a media club?
Here's the structure I had in mind:
We pick some sort of media - let's say a film, for the sake of argument.
So, let's say that we watch settle on Cars for January 1st.
We have two weeks to watch Cars - so, on the 15th, we make a thread for discussing Cars and its merits.
In the meantime, we prepare the next media to watch; everyone makes suggestions in a separate 'suggestions' thread.
After one week has passed, we pick from the suggestions and do a poll to see which choice is the favourite.
Then, once we begin to discuss Cars, the results are given for the film to be discussed after two more weeks.
What I have in mind is that we stick with Disney media (including acquisitions), or at least Disney-relevant media (Say, Studio Ghibli films)
However, it wouldn't necessarily have to be movies - for example, we could always say 'the first five episodes of this TV show' or even the Broadway shows, if the sources are available.
Ideally, it would be content available on Disney Plus, which would be the most widely available - it's not a strict rule, but I'd like to keep things accessible for people.
And, for the record, I know that my bi-weekly discussion threads didn't go so well last time - however, I've learned from my mistakes there.
It was far too much work for a subject that not enough people would be able to engage with. This time around, I'd plan to have a simpler template and more readily accessible content.
So, what would people think?
I'd be happy to put it all together - if you're interested, you could suggest something to watch!
