Since my post on who the best Goofy comic writer is has the consensus that Bill Walsh was the best and definitive Goofy comic writer, I decided to do another post on which writer handled a Mickey and Friends character best with Mickey's girlfriend, Minnie Mouse!
Which comic writer do you all feel is the best and definitive Minnie Mouse comic writer, same way Floyd Gottfredson is to Mickey, Carl Barks is to Donald, and Bill Walsh is to Goofy and why?
Wasn't Minnie Mickey's partner in adventure in early Gottfredson, before Goofy took over that role? So probably Gottfredson should claim the title for Minnie as well as Mickey. I'm someone who has spent a lot of time looking for stories where the female characters shine, and the strongest stories starring Minnie I've read were by Europeans writing for the marketed-to-girls titles: Giovanna Bo, François Corteggiani, Nino Russo.
Teresa Radice is also a good choice, really liked Minnie in Pippo Reporter.
I LOVED that version of Minnie! And her relationship with Goofy, too; it was wonderfully charming.
In fact, the whole Pippo Reporter series is one of my favorite, alternate-universe Disney comics. It has a whimsical quality to the writing and characterizations that I really enjoyed, and the artwork is great too.
Preparatory sketches for the series by artist Stefano Turconi, showing off Minnie in some of her attires:
I have a special attachment to the French Minnie comics of my childhood... and I realize some of my favorites were written by Alain Clément, and drawn by Maximino Tortajada Aguilar with the Comicup studio.
