King's shorts have Donald in a multifaceted role. He could make Donald both sympathetic and unsympathetic. Hannah leaned a lot more into Donald being a bully and a jerk (Donald's Happy Birthday iykyk)
Hannah's shorts have better pacing and comedic timing and are generally more entertaining than King's.
I personally like both equally for the reasons mentioned above. King's shorts have a better characterization of Donald whereas Hannah's shorts are funnier and hold up better.

My favourites depend more upon who storyboarded the cartoon than who directed it. Barks and Reeves are the most common of my favourites. And I think more of theirs were directed by Hannah. But, really, I like ALL the Donald Duck shorts. I can't remember even one dull one during the 1940s. There were a few during the early '50s.

No, the Donald cartoons which Barks did scripts/storyboards for were directed by King, not Hannah. Barks and Hannah worked as a team of storymen on the Donald Duck cartoons from 1936 until Barks left the Disney studio in 1942.

Yes, and King was one of the minor reasons why Barks left the Disney studio. A lot of the more unconventional gags and story ideas him and Hannah suggested were rejected by King.
