Don Rosa's work premiered a few months ahead of DuckTales, so of course Rosa hadn't made as big an impact on Uncle Scrooge just yet. But Rosa's comics and DuckTales were running concurrent with each other, so it's not surprising that both would be remembered so well, and eventually Don's work would influence the creators of the new DuckTales series. Don Rosa even wrote a four-page story for DuckTales Magazine, so Don and DuckTales have certainly crossed paths before.
I see that yesterday Hex published this interesting analysis of the trailer in his website Disney Comics Randomness. The presence of many screenshots allowed me to find details I missed, like the fact that Donald apparently lives on a house boat like he did in The Wise Little Hen:
I'm not too happy of that: in my opinion, Donald should live in an ordinary house like in the comics and in the classic shorts.
Another thing I hadn't noticed is that, in the message on the note board, the word above "sighting!" may be "Terri-Fermians" or "Terry-Fermians":
Finally, here is a better look at the (recreated) Barks paintings:
I already identified three of them in a previous post, but I still can't identify the one under the image of Castle McDuck, assuming it's a real painting (which I'm not sure of).

Re: Donald living on a houseboat, I realized that right away; there's a scene in the trailer where HD&L are pushing Donald off that very houseboat for some reason (again, Donald is formally dressed; why? Scrooge mentions in the trailer that he feels comfortable taking care of juveniles for "the weekend", making me think that Donald has to travel somewhere and needs a babysitter).
Re: animation in that promo; it is indeed spectacular, but I don't think it's truly reflective of the quality of animation in the actual series, if the trailer is anything to go by (still, as I said before, the animation in this series is much better than in the original, although the character designs will take some getting used to). This promo makes it look like Donald will be the focus of the show, which I love!
From the trailer it sounded like Donald was traveling somewhere (well just for the weekend). So I feared that we got a similar situation as the original tv-series where he is away most of the time and the boys stay with Scrooge. But I hope we get to see more of Donald in the new series, and that new promo looks promising.
I like the fact that the new series seems to use ideas and elements from the old comic books. With marketing done right, the new series might get people more interested in classic Disney comics again (*wishful thinking*).

I think Donald being main cast is a given at this point. I get the feeling (and I hope I'm right) that Scrooge and Donald will share equal honors as this series' stars.
I wish the promo had given us a look at characters we haven't seen before in this series, like Gyro and Gladstone. Now that Donald is a mainstay, might we see Barskian ten-pager type "sitcom" episodes interspersed with the longer Scrooge-driven adventures? Maybe a few "brittle mastery" stories? Probably not, because the Donald in this series seems more like Cartoon-Donald than Comics-Donald (the voice not being the only reason, but possibly driving the other reasons anyway), but it'd still be great to see a "Donald vs Neighbor Jones" sequence finally animated (but since Donald seems to live on a houseboat, Jones probably isn't even his neighbor).
In general, however, remakes rarely surpass the original series in longevity or in the popular imagination, even when targeted at a new generation. For example, despite the numerous iterations of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the original 1980s series is still considered the definitive one. And when you talk about He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, how many people would recall the 2002 series instead of the 1983 one? I'm already liking this new DuckTales better than the original, but history suggests that it won't, unfortunately, be as successful.
That's an interesting idea. We can probably guess the focus on this show will be a lot more on the kids (we even know there was a previous attempt at a new rebooted Ducktales a few years ago that Disney rejected because they wanted more focus on HDL), so if changing the perspective of "main character" to them... the idea that Scrooge and Donald might be relatively interchangeable in terms of "adult figure that goes with HDL to adventure" is an interesting one.
Donald living in a house boat is something he did in Disney cartoons for some time (in "Mickey Mouse work"/"House of mouse" and in newer "Mickey Mouse" shorts as far I recall) I think it's just part of the sailor image...

Beside his debut short, modern depictions of Donald's house boat seem to have originated in Disneyland as an attraction. "Birnbaum's Disneyland Resort: The Official Guide" actually says that his boat is not his main house and he normally lives in Duckburg, but this hasn't stopped the producers of "Mickey Mouse Works" and "House of Mouse" from showing the boat as his official house (I can't say about the new "Mickey Mouse" shorts). It also appears in the videogames "Epic Mickey", "Epic Mickey 2" and "Toontown Online".
An image from "Mickey Mouse Works":
Another (puzzling) appearance of the house boat is in Derek Charm's variant cover for IDW's Donald Duck #7 (legacy 374):
Still, despite the examples shown above, I think Donald's most iconic house is the one from the comics and the classic shorts (minus The Wise Little Hen), and I would have preferred to see that in the new series. It can't be helped now, but at least I hope Donald will have a constant supporting role like he does in the Uncle Scrooge comics. It would be really disappointing to see Donald absent from most episodes and his role given to other characters, like it happened in the original series.

I'm actually okay with the houseboat. As I said, this character is clearly Cartoon-Donald with the quacky voice and the goofball antics, rather than Comics-Donald, who plays straight man to Scrooge and who can be featured in "brittle mastery"-type stories. Thus, his living on a houseboat seems almost appropriate, in continuing with the sailor motif. As long as HD&L live with him and he is a main character (both of which appear to be true), I'm happy. It's just too bad that we won't get to see any skirmishes with Neighbor Jones!

The point is, even "Cartoon-Donald with the quacky voice and the goofball antics" was portrayed as living in a normal house in the classic shorts: two examples are Donald's Nephews and Donlad's Cousin Gus, but the are many others. Granted, if they avoid the mistake of writing him out like they basically did in the original series then I won't break my head over the fact that he lives in a house boat.
Neighbor Jones would be great to see indeed, though I hope they will mainly focus on adventure stories, since most of Donald's animated appearances are about slapstick and comedy.
Three things the new teasers made me realized... out side from the fact this new show will be Awsome!!!
1) On the oryginal show we never shown what Donald/Webby relationship is. If Donald is going join the crew on more adventrues there will be some interactions so the idea for her to think that "DONALD DOOK IS THE GREATEST ADVENTURER OF ALL TIME!!!" and idolize him/look up to more then the boys can create some unique chemistry and they may get something fresh out of it.
2) It may be my unapolpogetic sympathy for the Scarpa creation but... is it me or did Webby desing taken some inspiration from Dickie Duck? (Paperetta Yè Yè )
...If not for the bow I would just asume it's Dickie. Or maybe I'm just racist and all ducks look alike to me...
3) Why is she holding this rope agian?
