Once again, I ask for help finding the various covers for the comics coming out this coming week: Uncle $crooge 38, Donald & Mickey 4, and Showcase 5. Can't find them on Comiclist (only one each) or on IDW's website, and I can never find individual issues on Previewsworld.
It doesn't look like all of them are updated on Previewsworld yet, and some have the same illustration for A and B but with different layout right now.
There's now a preview of U$ 38 on issuu, so we can see the (very spiffy!) cover A at last. Still no sign anywhere of the second cover for Showcase 5, though. If anyone sees it online, even after Wednesday, please let me know--I buy the comics for someone who has no comic store nearby, and he likes to choose his cover.
Comiclist has Showcase 6 coming out next week (Aug 15), and it does show both covers for that one.
Why do the Donald and Mickey issues say "One-Shot" on the cover when this is clearly an ongoing series and even says "Donald and Mickey #4" in the text at the bottom of the credits page?

Because everything that is a one-shot or a #1 sell better. At least that's what publishers think these days...
But yeah, it's stupid to call it a one-shot when the comic has a serialized story inside. Also, I don't think comics marketed as one-shots should have cover variants. Parents buying this series for their kids could easily end up unintentionally buying the same issue twice. And with the irregular publishing schedule we’ve seen lately you have to follow everything closely to keep track of the series.

And that's a problem for the publisher because ...?

The parents will get angry when they notcie and stop buying all Disney comics hehe
But what I meant was that _I_ don't think they should do it as it's more confusing when done to one-shots than for numbered comics. I'm sure the publishers are happy if they get to sell multiple copies to the same person.

Yes, I know what you meant and I agree with you; I personally loathe the idea of multiple covers myself, even for the ongoing titles. And this is probably worthy of a separate thread, but how much of comic book sales these days are parents buying for kids (as gifts, rather than kids buying books they want themselves)? I honestly have no frame of reference here, but in the US at least, I sort of suspect that most consumers of Disney comics are adults buying for themselves. It may be different in Europe, of course.
Love the covers for #6! But it looks like this will be the last Showcase comic from IDW, we haven't seen any more announced after the April catalog (except for a 200+ page TPB that will probably collect all 6 issues)
