Who knows this rare French-made comic saga?
It was published during the summer of 1994, and because the World Cup was happening, this story was soccer-themed.
Dr Einmug has created/discovered a new kind of algae that can help solve world hunger. He has hidden the formula in seven satellites (or 8? I forget) that happen to be shaped like soccer balls, and those satellites have dropped around the world.
"We need to find all of them; even if one is missing, the others would be useless."
Mickey and his friends (including Donald, HDL, Goofy and Ellsworth) must all go their own way to retrieve a satellite, going to Himalaya, Japan, Colorado USA, the Amazon forest or deep in the sea.
Each story was also an excuse to teach a bit about the setting's culture... of course, this was still the early 90s, so it still tended to be a bit stereotypical and dated. It also had some ecologic messages about endangered nature (as Mickey remarks on the panel shown here: "Unfortunately, because of the constant woodcutting, the Amazon Forest is getting less and less big!").
I hardly remember all of these stories, I still only have one or two issues, including the one set in the Amazon forest, The Blue Men of Green Hell (magazine I left in the rain! It's still wrinkly!).
The best part, I remember, was the final episode, where they gathered all the satellites but the Phantom Blot and his men is confronting them... and it ends with a final showdown on the World Cup stadium, in front of the other Disney characters, such as Scrooge McDuck, who is very impressed! (back then, I found it quite weird/cool to see the Duck characters in the same comic as the Mice ones!)
This saga seems to have been only published in France, Egypt and Portuguese-speaking countries.
