There is a story where Donald and Gyro switch mental qualities, so Donald becomes a genius who works on a revolutionary invention... and Gyro can't do anything.
I don't remember many Gus/Gyro stories, but the one that comes to my mind is that Barks (?) story where Gus brings Gyro to a planet of lazy people, and they accidentally cause them to make extremely quick technological discoveries. It was a fun story.
Yep. before Barks came to the comics Donald only had cousin Gus, HDL, Grandma Duck and Daisy. Not enough to sustain a long-running franchise
I think it would have been interesting to see how Donald's history would've happened if Gus remained with him instead of going to live with Grandma Duck
Back in the Silly Symphonies days, you'd also get Goofy and Clarebelle occasionally turning up. One alternative would have been to team up Donald with Horace, since he'd been largely sidelined in the Mickey strip by that time. It's not a common pairing, is it?
My favorite odd couple is still Gus Goose with Gyro Gearloose. Gyro is task-focused, while Gus is Gus-focused. They rarely team up, it's hilarious when they do.

And I already mentioned the story where Befana brings a bicycle as a gift to Goofy, and Hazel then asks Befana to help her convince Goofy that she is a genuine witch (since a running gag is that Goofy refuses to admit Hazel is an actual witch with magic powers). After all, the Befana is not supposed to lie...

I have come to realize I don't remember too many educational Disney comics, at least those where it's the main purpose.
The closest example I can think off the top of my head is the oldMickey through Centuriesseries where he travels through different time periods each time he gets hit on the head and meets real historical figures (such as Nero or Louis XI), and the 1990s Mickey throughout the Worldseries where he travels through different countries each time he sneezes and discovers local cultures alongside real-world issues (like forest fires).
What are some examples that stood out to you?

Other stories of which I keep forgetting the titles, both were in the Journal de Mickey :
- A Mickey story where he goes to a robot-making convention. The robots revolt, Mickey and Goofy cannot fight them because they hurt their firsts by punching their metal bodies. A little girl is kidnapped by the robots, is tied up and she cries for her dad as she is put under a huge crane's claw holding a weight.

- Two aliens who look like slender anthro ducks, in yellow jumpsuits and big gloves, and go visit Uncle Scrooge, causing some minor problems. Donald and the nephews briefly have lunch with the aliens inside their spaceship. The art looked Italian style.
Can you help? Thank you.

(I entered the following into the search box - story; more than two pages; Gyro and pig mayor as characters; released in France; released in JM between 1989 and 1999.)
Yes, that's it! I recognize the characters that oddly get their own entry despite only appearing in this story...
Like Prof. Traquitandas that I distinctly remember as "Professeur Hippolo" in the French localization.
Thank you very much, Spectrus!

Say, I am looking for a comic where Gyro is hosting an inventor convention. However, the inventors have crazy flawed inventions. One inventor has a switch that makes a car disappear... but he is unable to make the car reappear. And it happens to be the mayor's car. Another inventor (who looks like an anthro turtle) has a chemical tube that is supposed to solve the water problem. It creates fumes that make bodies of water burst, but unfortunately, it makes fire hydrants in the city explode and create a flood. That comic was published in the early 90s French "Journal de Mickey". If you can help, thank you!

This cover features the Prince of Fogs. I think it should be listed among the characters along with Mickey.
On a side note, the Prince of Fogs (originally "Principe delle Nebbie") has been called by two different names in French. He is "Prince des Nuées" in the first three episodes but becomes "Prince des Ténèbres" in the fourth episode.
I'm currently writing a tribute for the next Bertel-Express issue. Can I quote and translate some of the statements made in this thread? (mostly addressed to Ramapith , RobbK1 , Orora ) That would make for a better tribute than just me rambling away...
Sure, go ahead!

I have recalled another story that I have been unable to find. I believe I found it some time ago, but I've been looking for it for more than a week now without finding anything.
In the story I am looking for, Donald suddenly is able to count large quantities instantly. I think at one point he counts the amount of spectators in a stadium.
Does anyone know the name of this story?
Like before, any help is much appreciated.
I remember that one! But forgot the title too. It was in a late 90s "Journal de Mickey", I think.
Doesn't it end with Donald becoming arrogant and at a restaurant, he says there are too many people and that he should take priority?
