I remember when it was coming out through Boom Studios, I was enjoying it at first but lost interest in it as it went on. (Felt the same way about DoubleDuck.) Though the way Boom was formatting the issues and having each one begin and end on a random page could have contributed to that so maybe I'd enjoy it more if I had the whole thing in one go.
I really couldn't envision reading WOM broken up and scattered over many issues - although I know this is how Italy also first published it. But evidently, Germany (and perhaps other countries that adapted the book format) seemed to like it more.
DoubleDuck is in a different league though. Some of the best Italian stories of the new century have been part of that series. I'm especially fond of Artibani's arcs, even if they build on his Duck Avenger: New Adventure arcs to a degree.
To give IDW the benefit of a doubt, I don't think they've fully caught up with the issues that were delayed because of COVID yet.
Though it would not surprise me at all if their Disney line is ending. We'll have to wait and see.
I suspect they’re still playing catch-up. I don’t think they’d end Uncle Scrooge with an unfinished serial (although from what I’ve seen in the first issue of the McDuck/MacDuck Industry/Dynasty story, I have to wonder if it is worth finishing. I’ve given up on it.)
Uncle Scrooge #57 was pushed back to December 2nd. Uncle Scrooge #58 is currently listed for September 23rd but that will likely be pushed back as well if #57 isn't out by then. #58 was the last issue to have been solicited.
Disney Comics and Stories #14 was removed from the Diamond catalog entirely. This suggests to me that it got cancelled. That was the last issue to have been solicited. #13 was released a couple weeks ago which means that is the final issue of the series for now.
Edit: On the bright side, this Free Comic Book Day Giveaway for Disney Masters by Fantagraphics will be out on August 19th.
squeakyboots I see that you also listed the Disney related books by Taschen in your Upcoming Disney Comics list. Did you know that Taschen will publish a "Donald Duck: The Ultimate History" book in spring/summer 2021?
i want to pick up some the duck books but want the ones the seem to fit into the Barks/Rosa universe, other than the Daan Jipps and Van Horn books any other suggestions ?
The Wizards of Mickey book is the most interesting news this month. The stories in the first volume have previously been published in English digitally and (as a huge mess) by Boom! But it sounds like more volumes are planned, and I've been wanting to check out some of the more recent Wizards stories.
Also, Yen Press haven't been publishing these kinds of Disney comics before. They are mostly focusing on manga style comics, but maybe that is changing now (?)
